Summer Entry 2012 Accelerated BSN Johns Hopkins

Published

Okay I have searched far and wide to find a topic relating to this but have only found older ones... I mean come on guys the world isn't really going to end December 2012. :yeah: So here's to the 2012 application cycle!

I have a ton of questions for those who are applying and those who have applied and those who are in the program. Any and all input will be much appreciated. Also just so you know, I will be attending the October 1st open house.

If I were to describe myself, I would say grade-wise I am not the strongest candidate for JHU's nursing program as it is considered top in the nation. HOWEVER I have great experience and recommendations to cancel that out. I am also trying really really hard to make those essays seem great but only 300 words?

So to anyone reading this post, what do you think I can do to make myself a stronger applicant?

Relating to specifically JHU, I have heard a million different things about their program. From "it really sucks and is not worth it" to "best program EVER". JHU is supposed to be a school that is the leader in research and also has a global perspective. Can anyone else tell me what is so special about JHU's nursing program? What is your personal experience with it?

As far as location and campus, I think it doesn't matter as long as the educational program is incredible.

p.s. You are awesome for reading my novel. There have been many a times where I skipped over long posts. :coollook:

Hey Cali residents. I'm from the Inland Empire :) Glad to know there are so many of us!

That is insane about the merit scholarship...I definitely have to give it up to those with such a high undergrad GPA. I think there have been a few of you who are regular decision but already schedule an interview...how early did you apply?

I just got my application in by November 15th for regular decision and on the 23rd I got an email saying my application was complete and I could call for an interview. I was surprised it went that fast. I scheduled an interview for the 7th of December because I wanted some time but now I wonder if I should have done it asap.

Are any of you Californians applying to schools in CA? I also applied for WesternU MSN-E program.

Wow esusan!!! That was fast! What speciality are you applying for???

I also am applying to Westerns program. It's funny to see us all on the same program pages. Are you a native californian?

Adult Nurse Practitioner. Did you apply for other schools? If so, which programs? I only applied to these two. (JHU and WesternU) I am from Texas currently living in Mexico but I have family in the Pasadena area.

I did for a few other programs. I applied for Family NP @ JHU, Western, UCSF, and Columbia.

Hi esusan! That's how I originally found this website. Then I stalked it until I made an account haha

There have always been a lot of Cali applicants and acceptances(!) from previous JHU threads.

So guys...2 weeks and 5 days away from December 15 (the day we are supposed to be notified by for early decision applicants)..I'm not holding my breath though because they have been late in notifying for the past 2 years. Or at least that is what I've understood from previous threads. blah..how did the pies go rchristina?

LOL!!! I think a lot of us did that. I know I did

the pies went great! especially the chocolate pecan, which are my favorite. I hope you all had a great thanksgiving!

I pretty much cannot wait until they notify us. I was impatient a few weeks ago and emailed a counselor, to which he replied that all early decision applicants will receive a decision by December 15th, but that I might hear sooner because my application was completed really early (but I am not holding my breath....sigh)....I need to work on my patience. :(

Wow that was a good idea to talk to a counselor. I think I might have to wait a little longer because of my transcript coming in a little later. blahhhh I just want to know! haha

I applied to WesternU as well. Since they postponed their deadline, I can send everything in on time. The NursingCAS is slow in posting updates though and I believed others on the forum mention that it would take a month to transfer all the stuffs from NursingCAS to WesternU.

dadicatedone: UCSF is a very good school. I know a few of FNPs who graduated from their program. They all comment that the program itself was very challenging. Good luck on that.

Thanks! I too have heard the program itself is challenging but the school is unbelievable. Both JHU and UCSF are my dream schools...not sure of my chances getting in, but put everything into the application. One can only hope for the best :)
