Okay I have searched far and wide to find a topic relating to this but have only found older ones... I mean come on guys the world isn't really going to end December 2012. So here's to the 2012 application cycle!
I have a ton of questions for those who are applying and those who have applied and those who are in the program. Any and all input will be much appreciated. Also just so you know, I will be attending the October 1st open house.
If I were to describe myself, I would say grade-wise I am not the strongest candidate for JHU's nursing program as it is considered top in the nation. HOWEVER I have great experience and recommendations to cancel that out. I am also trying really really hard to make those essays seem great but only 300 words?
So to anyone reading this post, what do you think I can do to make myself a stronger applicant?
Relating to specifically JHU, I have heard a million different things about their program. From "it really sucks and is not worth it" to "best program EVER". JHU is supposed to be a school that is the leader in research and also has a global perspective. Can anyone else tell me what is so special about JHU's nursing program? What is your personal experience with it?
As far as location and campus, I think it doesn't matter as long as the educational program is incredible.
p.s. You are awesome for reading my novel. There have been many a times where I skipped over long posts.
I got the call today that I was accepted into the summer entry ABSN. I'm so excited! I, too, am waiting on Penn's decision on Monday.
Does anyone know the process to matriculate into the MSN portion from the ABSN? I know there's a combined BS/MSN program, but I didn't apply for that because I didn't know what specialty I wanted to go into. Is it pretty easy, like at Penn, or will I have to reapply for the MSN which means I would most likely have to work a few years in between? Any information would be great.
I am actually curious about this. I will be attending for the absn. I feel like I should have applied for the msn program too, ESP. Because no gre is required and I know the whole DNP is creeping up soon too. Any response would be great!I got the call today that I was accepted into the summer entry ABSN. I'm so excited! I went to an open house and the guy who talked to us said you can apply for the MSN program at any point when you are in the BSN. He said they sometimes prefer this because it may take you a little while to figure out exactly what you want to specialize in. He also said that it is much easier to do that, than to get accepted into the combined BSN/MSN then decide you want to be in a different specialty.
Hi Katie, I am taking my partner just because we are coming from upstate new york and this wil be the first time we will be seeing JHU. Looking at the accepted students website, I think they are trying something new this year where they are inviting families and friends to attend. I am excited to hear that other people will be attending. See you there!!!

I was accepted as well, they left a message this morning. Not sure if I'm going or not, still waiting to hear from Penn. Congrats to all and best of luck.
