Summer Entry 2012 Accelerated BSN Johns Hopkins

Published

Okay I have searched far and wide to find a topic relating to this but have only found older ones... I mean come on guys the world isn't really going to end December 2012. :yeah: So here's to the 2012 application cycle!

I have a ton of questions for those who are applying and those who have applied and those who are in the program. Any and all input will be much appreciated. Also just so you know, I will be attending the October 1st open house.

If I were to describe myself, I would say grade-wise I am not the strongest candidate for JHU's nursing program as it is considered top in the nation. HOWEVER I have great experience and recommendations to cancel that out. I am also trying really really hard to make those essays seem great but only 300 words?

So to anyone reading this post, what do you think I can do to make myself a stronger applicant?

Relating to specifically JHU, I have heard a million different things about their program. From "it really sucks and is not worth it" to "best program EVER". JHU is supposed to be a school that is the leader in research and also has a global perspective. Can anyone else tell me what is so special about JHU's nursing program? What is your personal experience with it?

As far as location and campus, I think it doesn't matter as long as the educational program is incredible.

p.s. You are awesome for reading my novel. There have been many a times where I skipped over long posts. :coollook:

Sorry to hear about that, hang in there!!!

Sorry to hear that dedicated!

Now I'm worried but I'll be ok. My undegraduate GPA isn't so great either but we'll just have to see.

They said admission decisions will be mailed sometime next month....don't they call the students they accept first? Maybe that will be sooner?

I haven't received any news either. I called last week and though the lady was very nice, she told me that the committee is working very hard to come up with decisions and as soon as they find out, they'll let us know. She did give me the email of someone I can contact but I thought I'd give them until the first week of Feb. If anyone else wants to shoot him an email, it's for Raymond San Juan.

I sent them an email and they said that decisions should be coming out in the next couple weeks. Last year is seems like they were notified on the 16th and 17th of February.

Accepted!!!!! Wow, I am so excited, especially since I wasn't expecting to hear for another few weeks.

I had originally applied Early Decision, but although my boss told me she had written my recommendation, she apparently forgot to put it in the mail...which I didn't find out until I didn't get a decision on the original Dec. 15th deadline. So, it's been an unpleasant couple months of waiting, but at least it paid off!

CONGRATS!!! How did they notify you? Was it through mail or did they call you?

Got the call today :) They will be mailing and e-mailing decisions as well though, I'm told.

Congrats!!

Hopefully this means that us Fall entry applicants will hear sometime soon. I'm nervous.

Hey everyone be sure you join our Facebook page! Johns Hopkins university school of nursing accelerated class of 2013. Congrats!

Hey that brings up a good question, I wonder when each of the classes graduate. They say the Fall accelerated is 17 months and the Summer accelerated is 13 months. I figured that the Fall accelerated graduated in December 2013 but that seems to be only 16 months. And the summer accelerated would graduate in June/July 2013?

Yep, I heard by phone call this morning too. I wondered if they might be calling me a bit early because of the whole "early decision" thing, but the woman did say something like "Once I start calling I just keep going!", so hopefully everyone will hear soon!
