Hi everyone!
This summer I signed up for a couple "gravy" classes that I need for my prereqs. I start the nursing program in August.
I went to my first soc class on Wednesday... its a killer. Because of the compressed time, its about 2.5 hours long, Monday and Wednesday, and my professor is so strange. He's really monotonous and wordy, its like being in class with the dry eyes guy.
At least it will only be 8 weeks!
I think I'll invest in some toothpicks for my eyelids to stay awake... soc definitely isn't my bag.
How are everyone else's summer classes going?
Take care,
Reb
Well, I started the last of my two classes this past week. One is Microcomputer Applications (now required for all degree plans) and Business Principles. The computer class I took at another college, but it transferred to my current college as a "programming" class. The ADN program agreed to accept this as my computer class. However, due to loss of financial aid (long story) I need to take 5 semester hours of electives and graduate in August with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts to get my f.a. back. So I picked two EASY classes and these were the ones recommended by my counselor. The computer class meets 2 hours a day/4 days a week for 6 weeks. The Business class is a telecourse and exams can be taken online. Never have to go to class!!! YEA!! And it is self-paced also. I am already working and studying preparing for my first test and hope to get the whole class finished about the same time as my computer class so that I can have some free time this summer. I also am taking a Dosage Calculations math class (cont. ed.) that goes all summer long. But it only meets on Fridays and it isn't every Friday. So it won't be so bad.
Good luck to all summer students and future NURSES!!!!!!!!!
Wow!
We are some studious people. This is great. I am also taking communications, but I'm not taking that until the second half of the summer. I could never pull a full class load over the summer, mostly because I have the strangest idea that summer is supposed to be a BREAK and 6 credits is a heck of a lot easier than 12.
I don't think I could take A&P over the summer, either. I also have 2 more prereqs to complete (micro and dev psych), but I have 2 years to do them in, and it shouldn't be that difficult to pick up a class here and a class there. We'll see.
Good luck to everyone in their summer classes and in the upcoming fall one as well.
My aunt graduated from nursing school this past December, and she just brought me two huge boxes full of nursing books including her nclex resources. Its so cool... I'm such a nerd. I feel like its Christmas or something. I just want to read all of them. Have you ever noticed how nursing just sort of takes over your life?
Take care all,
Rebecca
It is true I feel as if school has taken over, lol. These are my first classes since oh...1988,lol. I was totally terrified! I just took my first psyc test and it was an 88 so I can't complain....class average is 76 so i think I did good. English is going to be the hard one for me. I hot an A- on my first paper, but it was only half a page...now we are on essays...good luck to me....I only have to have a C is what I keep telling myself, BUT I know deep down I want an A. Lets all get A's? lol see ya
Event,
Microcomputer Appl. is a fairly basic class. It is currently the learning of Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft 2000. MS Office 2000 is primarily used by businesses (according to instructor). It covers Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint...if anyone is semi-computer literate...it's a BREEZE!!!!! The first time I took the class, we did Integration 2000, which is integrating all of the before mentioned applications and doing a project for a major grade. I Aced the class first time around...and don't expect less this time. The instructor has even asked me to help those around me if they are having difficulties. :)
Yeeeaaahhh I dont have to go back to school until sept. I will be taking my nursing courses only. because Im done with everything else Anyways I took micro last summer and it was 3.5 hours 4 days a week but I was glad I did it because I got a "B" which I think is good. Good luck everyone this summer.
Told hubby this morning that I can't wait til summer is over...that is if I survive!! LOL! Now we are on the bones...all 206 of them and have to memorize every single one! What's wrong with describing a bone like a layman? Then we'd all understand the stupid thing!! Like, "My backbone hurts in the middle!" or "I bruised my butt" LOL!! Oh well!! Wish me luck!!!
I've finished all my nursing pre-reqs...but taking 2 classes this summer (it's a LONG story)...but so I can get my PELL back in the fall!! We took our first exam in my computer class Thursday and we got it back today. I made a 96 on it!!!!!! YEA!!!! I need all the A's I can get to help increase my GPA!!! This is great to be able to brag to someone (whom you think cares :) ). Well, good luck to every one this summer...especially those taking A&P and/or Micro!!! I'm certainly glad I took those during regular semesters!! Take care and study hard!!
Shonda :)

this summer I am taking a nutrition class, sociology, and speech. I start the nursing program this fall. I only have 2 more pre recs to get out of the way but I have 2 years to do it in. My psyc class was great. We just had open discussions. Many times we would stray off the topic but it was mostly because of the instructors comments. She told us not to worry tho because she would tell us everything that was on the test. I ended up with an A in the class. This was one of the most interesting classes I ever had. Good luck to you all
