I'll be taking my A&P II in the summer 6 week course. It's the last class I'll need before my clinical work starts. From what I've heard, it's naturally going to be tough. A&P I was tough as a 14 week course, but I got my A. I am pretty much expecting to live breath and sleep A&P for those 6 weeks. Some people think I'm nuts for giving up 6 weeks of my summer. The way I look at it, if you are dedicated enough and want it enough, those 6 weeks will fly by and you'll be moving further down the path of nursing. Good luck!
I was considering taking A&P II in 6 wks this summer, but have decided not to for reasons having nothing to do for school. Our regular semester is 15 wks, so 12 is not too much shorter. I'm in A&P I right now (which I've heard is the harder of the two), taking two other reading intensive classes, working, and taking care of a family. I study my tail off during any free time, and I have an A so far. As far as I'm concerned, it's only a taste of what nursing school will be like, so I see it as preparation. I think with prior A&P knowledge, the right mindset, and a little determination thrown in for good measure, you can do it. Good luck!
I took Chemistry in a five week session last summer. I went to the library after class for up to two hours each day to complete the homework assignments and review the material covered in class. I actually found I preferred the intense focus (20 hours in class each week) versus my traditional A&P I class which lasted sixteen weeks.
I enjoyed it so much I plan to enroll in A&P II this summer (eight week session). I've been reading through the textbook in anticipation of the class. I did this for my A&P I course, and found just being a little familiar with the book really helped.
Good luck with your classes!

I will be taking A&P 2 in the first session of summer classes and Microbiology in the second session. Im ready for the work it will take. Ive been told by nursing students that taking science pre reqs during the summer gices you a small taste of what nursing school will be like. Im ready!!!:pumpiron:
I'm taking physiology the first block of the summer (only time it is offered) and then anatomy during the second block. Each is 7.5 weeks long so I'm sure it will make for a busy summer, but I'm ok with that! I could wait to take physiology in the fall if accpeted into the nursing program, but I would prefer to keep my course load as light as possible the first semester so I can focus on the nursing classes and clinicals.

I know that I'm about two months off making this thread, but I was wondering how ya'll felt about taking A&P as a summer course. They have two different sessions offered: one six week session and one twelve week session. I was going to go the safe route and take the 12week session. However, I have previous A&P knowledge... and I just bought the coloring study guide to help me brush up (lol).
Have any of you done it? Are any of you thinking of doing it as well?
