Hey all
I am a RPN (LPN) student. I am wondering if I should go back to get my BScN? What do you think?? I've thought about this and still cannot make up my mind. I'm still young (19). I would love to go back but.. is it worth it? Salary is not my top priority but...getting paid good ain't bad either lol.

By all means...please do! If you don't do it now, when you are young and your brain is still looking to absorb knowledge, you will later. I recently completed my RNFA program, last August, and I am thirty something...furthering yourself is always an advantage to you and your career. Good Luck!

What is RPN? Is it the same as LPN?

If you really want to pursue to get your BScN, go for it - you're still young. The program is four years now (in BC-Canada anyway). I'm midway of the program now, and actually cosidering to challenge LPN.

YES GO FOR IT.

I have been an RPN for five years and must quit reminding myself I would be long since done my degree if I had started it in the first place. I just applied to complete ADN program in the states. Do it, you will have many more opportunities, ( and money.)

If given the opportunity, definately continue and become an RN. You can take a bridge program and work as and RPN while completing your RN. Also, there is broader opportunity for an RN to specialize and to hold management positions compared to RPN's. Also, I have noticed if you are interested in travelling and doing that kind of nursing, there is more opportunities for an RN as well. Good luck :)

the college/university higher ups are currently working on putting together a bridging program for RPNs. It wont be in place for a few years, but at least its in the works!

Go for it now girl, if you can do it! I am a rpn student part time because I am a singlemom(38). If I am going to take my RN I'll have to wait until my kids are in college. :nurse:

Hey

I'm 19 and an LPN student as well, It is a hard decision if I want to take the RN program after....still unsure! I hope alberta gets some better bridging programs by the time I know what to do. Good Luck and hopefully we do the right thing~

I know the Alberta bridge is three years to get the BSN, if you can get into a programme. Very limited numbers.
