U.S.A. Texas

I need your opinions before I would accept the job offer. I have 6 years medsurg RN experience and ive been offered a base salary of 30.70 at 1 of the sugar land hospitals do you think the pay is reasonable enough? The only drawback i have is my current salary is just a little bit lower from that offer but ive been wanting to move to the sugarland neighborhood. any opinions with regards to the offer would be very much appreciated.

I think it's reasonable. Also, Sugar Land is a great suburb! If I'm not inner loop, that is my next place to go!

thanks im gonna try to negotiate if i can stretch it a little bit. its methodist sugar land and i really like the hospital i just wanted them to increase the offer by a few more so i can pay house mortgages when i eventually buy a house. any other opinions.. houston rns pls..

The impression I get is that the smaller satellite hospitals wont be paying as much as their med center counterparts.

That's just my theory though...

They don't. There's a small 'med center differential' that gets eaten up QUICK by commute, parking, etc.

I did get the job i counted offer for a few more dollars they jacked me up to level II position now i would be happily working with them.

your exactly right.

Congrats Tatet98!

What is the commute from Houston inner loop (med district) to Sugarland for night shift (around 6pm)? Taking in all of the employment options for the area but I still really want to live in the inner loop. Thanks!

I used to make the drive from Sugar Land to the Med Center for night shift. It took me about 30 minutes if I took 90 all the way in. Since I was driving against traffic it wasnt too bad. Hope that helps.

Just checking your question...are you asking how long it would take you to drive inbound from sugar land towards the med center at 6pm, or are you asking how long it would take you to drive outbound from the med center to sugar land 6pm?

I'm thinking you're asking outbound at 6pm. If you are, then it might take a little while for you to get there if you take 59 south the whole time. It gets pretty congested at the 610/59 intersection and at the sam houston (8)/59 intersection, but if you stay in the left hand lane the whole time, it should be a little better. It seems that you'd miss most of the heavy traffic that lasts form around 3 to 5 when people are trying to get back to pick up the kids from school though.

With absolutely no traffic, I've gotten from the med center back to sugar land in about 35 minutes, but with traffic, you'd probably be looking at around 45 to 50 minutes. That's just what I've experienced though. Hope that helps!
