suffering from Burn Out?!?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have had the NLN and 3 tests this past week. All of a sudden, I have no desire to study and I am afraid of destroying my GPA in Micro!!!

Is this called burn out? Usually I am very aggressive with grades and work, but right now I could care less! This has never happened in all my years of school!

Please tell me how to get out of this funk and get my groove back! Help!

I feel the same way you do! I had to take the TEAS test and study for my micro test all at the same time!! I am so burned out - I don't even care any more! WE CAN'T GIVE UP THOUGH!! You just have to remember how far you've come and how hard you've worked. It seems awful now, but it will get better and it will all be worth it!! Keep your head up, you'll get through it!! :)

Hey there! I found out that what I needed was a good dose of laughter!!!!

I was talking to some girl friends and they had me in stitches and I feel so much better. We take ourselves sssssooooooo seriously!!!! We forget that there is a whole world out there revolving without us!! Because we have to study!! I need to remember that when I get this stressed out, I need comedy and laughter to counteract the stress! Thanks for your response! Good Luck

I'll be curious what others have to impart, also. I've been on break this semester as all my prereqs and anything I can take outside of the program are complete and it's been NICE. So nice, I sometimes wonder whether I'll be able to gear myself back up for an RN program.

I just completed a BS in Business in '99 and have been working full-time since. I don't miss doing papers, presentations, or trying to figure out professors!! I've done well with all my A & Ps and micros and chems that I have done since that time, but worry that I'll get back in the swing! :clown:

I'm right there with you guys. Very tired of studying A&P... and yet another test. 3rd A&P test in 3 weeks--> :( . Its ok though, baby steps! WE CAN DO IT! My fiance and I are going to have a nice V-day outing to get my mind off of school for the evening.

Best of luck to all

I had burn out so bad last semester. I ended up with all B's enstead of my usual all A's. I just couldn't bring myself to study anything. This semester isn't much better although I have been studying. I decided that the only way I can make it this semester is to concentrate on Micro and just worry about passing my other non-science classes. I am starting to wonder if I could even make it in nursing school now that I am already so burn out. I am hoping that starting nursing school will feel like something new and exciting.

I have no cure to offer you. I think the best cure is graduation! I have been in school part time or full time since fall of 2002. I just want to be able to go to work, come home with no home work, and go spend my paycheck.

I am half way through the 4th semester out of 5 in my RN program. I had to wait 19 years for the opportunity to go back to college and with pre-reqs included it has taken me 3 years (because of having to work as well) nonstop to get to this point. I'll be the first to admit it's been a long hard road and only gets harder. The best advice I can offer to anyone is to take it one semester at a time and always keep your eyes on your ultimate goal. It really will go much faster than you think! Hope this helps! :wink2:

I'm feeling the burnout too. 3 midterms this week. I'm so burned out that I forgot I had an evening class tonight!

Part of my lethargy is the fact that I'm not sure if I'll even be going to nursing school if I get in this september. I almost dropped all my classes this semester, but decided at the last moment to keep on trucking just to keep my options open.
