Oh boy! Substitute fever has hit the 2nd grade HARD today. I cannot believe how many kids are faking sick. I have two 2nd grade teachers at training for the next two days, please save me! On my 11th visit before 9am (we start at 8:30) I asked "Is your teacher out today?"

I ask the secretary first thing in the am for the list of absences. Forewarned is forearmed! If i see too many kids from one class I'll offer to come to "talk" to the class. That seems to slow them down😊

I understand it with elementary, but I'm always surprised when it happens in my high school! Luckily (or unlucky for the teachers), we're a small school and our teachers rotate to cover occasional sick days so they know all the students basically and are pretty good at keeping them in class.

I hate days when we have a lot of teachers at a conference! I see kids non stop all day for the most ridiculous things!
