Studying Advice

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hi everyone!

This is my first thread on this forum and I'm hoping to get some good advice!

I am currently receiving my associates in science and then working on getting accepted into a 2 year RN nursing school in which I have to take the TEAS test. I was wondering if anyone has purchased the Version V - ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V) Study Package - Study Manual and Online Practice (Form A and B). This is the version 5 manual and also the two online practice tests. The school that I will be applying to has highly recommended to purchase this book, but for the great deal, and maybe even some more practice I was wondering if anyone has purchased these two tests and could give me some input to how they have helped them. I would be willing to purchase and take these tests if they will help me, but I do not want to spend the money if they seem useless. I do understand that everyone has different ways of learning but any input or feedback from anyone who has taken these tests will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Kelsey

I'm planning to take the teas V this summer. I have not set a date yet.(don't know if I can take the pressure now). I have been reading the ati book everyday since Monday. I got it from the library. I read that it is useful for all the subjects but less in depth for the science portion so I have the Biology for dummies to help. When are you planning on taking the teas?

I took the TEAS test and scored an 85%. What tremendously helped me were the 2 online tests that you are talking about. Especially with the Science portion. The topics in the science section in the practice tests were extremely similar to the real teas test! . Even though buying the online practice tests are a rip off (because u can only take the practice tests twice) I would highly recommend buying them cuz it helps so much! Well that is my personal opinion. Hope I helped some!! :)

Oh btw the practice tests are an exact replica of the real teas test!! The online practice tests are slightly harder than the real teas test.

I bought Form A of the practice test, I can not say that it was really helpful. All the subjects on the practice test were the same on the ACTUAL test, except the Science portion. I passed with an 85% by the way with science being my lowest.

^I think that it just depends on which TEAS exam you're given when you officially take it. Some people say that those online practice tests were helpful, whereas others say that they weren't really that helpful.

It helped me greatly. I scored an 80% without taking any biology class or physiology. I used the ATI book along with McGraw hill for the teas v exam. I took the practice test a few days before the actual exam. It helps you look for any mistakes you may make on the real exam, and explains why each choice is wrong or right. Good luck!

Can anyone please email me and let me know if just buying the book is ok.. i bough the book for 60 bucks but i never thought about the practice tests. should i pay to take it or no.. farah_future_star@yahoo

Hello, I am new to this too. I am going into my second semester of nursing school and it is tough, but I am confident I'll get through Lord willing. I wanted to comment on the TEAS test. I stressed out about it when I took it too, and did fine. Know your medical math and conversions. Practice reading comprehension. Dont get to worked up, you made it this far it is likely you will pass. The time given is plenty, I had almost an hour extra. Just keep calm and think before you answer questions. I am not the smartest by far and I got 90 on reading and 85 on math. Anyway Good luck and be prepared for the first semester. Get organized with everything. Do anything you can that will save you energy and time during school. Dont be to proud to ask for help, seek out a mentor, nursing school is not like anything else I have ever done. I have 5 years of college behind me, I was used to memorization. Not so with nursing school. You have to KNOW IT and KNOW WHY! Get ahold of your nursing book and try to find someone that can provide you with a syllabus for the first courses.

Study, use any extra time you have wisely. Dont let the instructors intimidate you, some will try. Stand up for yourself. You have a right to see tests and ask the instuctor to go over them in class. Demand that your instructors do their part in helping you to succeed. Some are there for reasons unknown and make it obvious they are not willing to go the extra mile. Dont be pushy but do stand up for yourself. Dont be afraid. I wish you all luck in your first semester.
