Study questions

I am studing for the NCLEX, which I take on Saturday. I am having trouble with a couple questions that I can not find the answer too.

1. How do you position a patient for a postop lobectomy and pneumoectomy?

2. What is the difference between a renel diet and nephrotic syndrome diet?

3. Whats the formula for a heprin calculation...I KNOW this...but my mind is blank - forgive me..I need help!

Thanks!

How do you position a patient for a postop lobectomy and pneumoectomy?

A pt with lobectomy should be placed in position of comfort -- on the side or back. The purpose is to push the abdominal content against the diaphragm wall.

A pt with pneumonectomy should only be turn towards the operative for a short period . The purpose is to give room for the unaffected lungs to expand and to prevent mediastinal shift.

2. What is the difference between a renel diet and nephrotic syndrome diet?

Nephrotic diet pt need protein because they are protein waster

Renal diet-pt will be restricted on protein, sodium and potassium. Because pt have problem in excreting protein which lead to increase in BUN & Cr.

Whats the formula for a heprin calculation...I KNOW this...but my mind is blank - forgive me..I need help!

Dose = Rate * Concentration

Hope all that answer your question.

Good Luck on Saturday...YOU CAN DO IT!!! Keep us posted :)
