  1. I agree Alicia. I just don't think this dream job will work out because they are not acting fast enough. I am just not willing to risk it. In your opinion, if I ask a hospital for a couple days to think about the offer, how long is it ok to think things over? I am just thinking it could buy me some time..stalling the offer I guess. That could be risky too though. I am thinking 48 hours tops if I need to think about it (AKA buying some time). congrats on the NP & good luck with he job hunt! :)
  2. Thanks guys...I completely agree. I don't think I could turn down a job offer if I did not actually have a real job offer to fall back on. I thought about calling the HR at my dream hospital to let them know I am considering another offer, but they might frown upon that too. Like I said, this is all such a gamble. Is the phrase, "you'll hear from HR" a good thing? I could read into the interview all day lol!
  3. The Florida panhandle is bad...I hear its $22-26 for an RN. I made $38 before I moved here.
  4. Hi everyone. I am an RN who had to take two years off work to care for my family. I am trying to find work and it has been very difficult. I have been looking for a job for 6 months. I have had several interviews (7 to be exact). I know the two year gap on my resume looks bad, but I do have experience behind me which is good. So I think its happening...I think I am about to get an offer very soon. I interviewed 3 times at hospital "A" and they are now checking my references (my references just let me know this). Hospital "A" is not my dream job, but Ill take it since I have been looking for a while and I am grateful for any opportunity. I had an interview last Wednesday at hospital "B", which is my dream job and the interview went well. It ended with the manager saying, "We will talk about this and get back to you. You will be hearing from HR." Its now Monday. I have not heard from HR. I have a feeling that hospital "A" will offer me a job. Would you accept the offer? I would feel so bad if I got offered my dream job a few days later and even thought about bailing out on a job offer - I am just not like that. How long in your experience did it take from your hospital interview to an unofficial or official job offer? I just don't think its worth sacrificing a job knowing that I may never even get this dream job. Anyone ever in a similar situation? I feel this job hunting stuff is such a gamble at times!
  5. I sent you a PM. I hope it worked. I have never done that before! CONGRATS, your an employed nurse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Please don't worry about the whole Spring Valley incident. You have a job! Wahhhhoooo! In a market like this, that is something to be excited about! Plus, you plan on staying at Summerlin for a while, right??? The interviews have seen situations like this before, and will see this happen again. It is TUFF out there for us new grads, and no one can blam you for what happened. Shoot - I would have done the same thing! The job hunting is not over until you sign a contract! I have tried to call both Spring Valley & Summerlin with no success. My ER job at Valley has said "Forwarded to HM" for 2 weeks now and Spring Valley's for a week. I WANT AN INTERVIEW!!! I just want to cry! I have applied everywhere and I am loosing hope. Congrats again! This is wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been waiting a couple days to see how the interview went. What hopital are you working at instead? I am still waiting on my interviews at Spring Valley & Valley. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
  8. Have you been considered for any of the Valley jobs?
  9. Did you ever get the "Forwarded to HM" response on your apllication status with any of the Valley hospitals and NOT get an interview. My friend says she had a "Pending" for 2 days that ended up turning into a "no longer being considered". I can't relocate either. It is not an option for me...
  10. I know..We have to keep on trying! Good luck this week and tell me everything about the interview...Hopefully I will get mine in a few weeks!
  11. I am here in Vegas too. When did you graduate? I have been looking for 2 weeks and it sucks...I can't find anything!
  12. Oh...I forgot to ask...which hospitals did you have interviews at so far? Which ones promised a job to you?
  13. Oh man...I am never gonna find work! Since July??? Why are these hospitals even interviewing us if there is no new grad positions available? No, I have not tried Kindred yet. I will this week. I have been looking for 2 weeks now (I passed the NCLEX 1st week of Sept) and I feel so thankful that 2 of my Valley applications say forwarded to HR. All the other 30 say "no longer being considered". Do alot of people in your class have jobs already??? A couple more weeks of this job hunting and I am going to apply at Target for something temporary!
  14. Well Good luck! Is this your first interview? Did you interview at any other hospitals? Is this the interview for a med-surg spot? I think the best thing you can do is try to relax and be yourself! Did you call and bother HR at all during the 2-3weeks that your status said "Forward to HM"? If the same happens to me, I should have and interview date in a week! Sorry for all my questions, I just am getting inpatient with this job market. I have been looking for 2 weeks already with no end in sight! When did you graduate? How long have you been looking for a job?
  15. Hello everyone! I am a new grad in Las Vegas too. Boy, this market is tough, huh??? Anyways, I have applied everywhere. Summerlin won't even let me apply to med-surg because I am a new grad..What the heck??? Same with Centennial Hills. I got a call back for an ER position from Valley and had to take a personality test. The recruiter said I passed with an "A" and he was forwarding my resume to managment. Under the Valley website, it says my application was forwarded to HM for like a week and a half now. Also, I applied for a med-surg position to Spring Valley yesterday and it now says the same thing - forwarded to HM on the website. How long did it take for you to get a phone call after you noticed the status changed to "forwarded to HM". How long it it take after that to get an interview? Valley's interviews sound horrible...a panel interview? Let me know how it goes! I hope I get one soon! I will take anything right now!
