student shortcuts

Nursing Students General Students

It's my last semester, and I've started taking all kinds of shortcuts to save time. Here are some of my favorites:

Soup for dinner: just open, peel off the label, and heat up the can directly on the stove

Dishes: I now use only paper plates. You'd be surprised how often aluminum foil can stand in for cookware.

Healthful eating: I don't have time for it. I buy cases of V8.

Showering: If I didn't have time to wash my hair, I use hair freshening spray and a ponytail.

Cereal for dinner: Hey, it's not that bad for you.

Laundry: Use Febreze. Buy two weeks' worth of panties and socks. When you run out of towels, use hand towels, kitchen towels, or even paper towels.

Coffee: I don't have time for it. Buy caffeinated mints.

Reading: I don't have time for all of it. Fall asleep with textbook on face and hope some of it sinks in.

What are yours?

If you wear your clothes when you shower, you'll get your laundry done.

I've used paper plates for years, for real!

I used to wash my scrubs in the shower and hang them to dry when in nursing school. We weren't given enough to last through the week.

I'm in the habit of laying my bras out to dry after a long sweaty day. That way they don't become stinky.

I also just leave clothes in baskets. We have a lot of sandwiches for dinner. I just order the school lunch for my eldest every day to not deal with lunch time. I record lecture and listen to it while on the treadmill to not waste my valuable study time. I review notes while putting my two year old to sleep. I pretty much wear pajamas and sweats when not in class so laundry doesn't need to be done that often. I bought multiple sets of uniform scrubs for laundry reasons as well. I don't iron them anymore. I just spray with water then put them in the dryer on high for 10 mins and they come out wrinkle me free (and oh so toasty on cold mornings!) my house is a wreck.

Basically ive become a lazy slob (oh my poor husband who does a lot of the housework right now). I just tell myself "one more year".

Gotta ta love nursing school. No life outside of class study and find some time for kid activities so they aren't neglected then sleep. And repeat.

I laughed out loud. I've wished to be able to learn by osmosis more times than I can count. :roflmao:

I'm currently researching that. I frequently sleep with notes on top of me, but I haven't made much progress yet...

I'm sure she meant this to be humorous.

PBJ dogs, I love it! I don't know how the people with kids do it. I would lose my mind.
