Hey everyone,

So I didn't see a category for those trying to get into the fall class so I thought I would start one. I just found out that I've been accepted and I'm really excited to start in October. I'm coming over from Utah, so any ideas where the best places to live are? I have a small family with two kids. Also what is the cheapest/easiest way to move long distances? Thanks for your help, and I look forward to meeting you all in the fall.

Hey Jared, I am hoping to hear back soon from Wolford. I have an interview with Kaiser next month. We are hoping to get into both then decided which way to go according to how we felt about each program after the interviews. I too am from Utah and have four children. Congratulations to you and maybe I will be seeing you this fall!

Thanks for starting this thread! I will be joining you this October. I will be moving from TN and have a family also. I am looking at renting a house. I have been looking at craigslist, trulia, and zillow for this. When I was there for the interview some of the current students that spoke with us lived in Ft. Myers. That is probably where I will stay due to the price of housing in Naples itself.

Did you guys interview in December or January?

Hi BSPRAGU,

I interviewed in December. Did you just interview in January? If you interviewed you are probably definitely in. So be expecting good news soon. Congrats on the Kaiser interview, I've heard it is super competitive. Hope I'll see you in the fall.

Hey Joker269MPCO,

I would definitely love to get a house for my family as well, if it can be affordable. Thanks for the ideas with the trulia and zillow. I'll have to check those out. When did you interview? When are you planning on moving?

I interviewed in September. I originally interviewed for the Feb. class, but before the interview we found out my wife was expecting again, so I figured it best to delay my start until the October class. I plan on moving in June or July so my kids will be there for the start of the school year in August. Also, the closer you get to October the harder it will be to find a place to live. October to May is when all the snowbirds arrive and they gobble up all the rental inventory!

Thanks! We are pretty excited to interview at Kaiser. Something is still drawing me toward Wolford. I haven't interviewed yet. I just finished my last Chem so I am sending updated transcripts tomorrow. Hopefully I can interview in February so I can make an informed decision if I am so lucky as to get into both programs. That would be cool to have a fellow student from utah! I live in Layton and work in Salt Lake. Hopefully I hear from Wolford soon!

Good to know that maybe we need to move earlier rather than later. Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about possibly trying to get a travel assignment somewhere nearby so I could try to find a place? Don't know if thats a good idea or not. Any of you guys ever done travel nursing?

It would be nice to be with someone in the program from this neck of the woods. I work in SLC too. Which hospital do you work at?

I work mostly at Salt Lake Regional. I have also worked at the VA, Jordan Valley, and Davis hospitals. A travel assignment is not a bad idea. I haven't looked into that much, but it sounds like a good option in order to get out there sooner.

I looked a little bit into it, including talking to a travel company. It doesn't sound like they pay the travel nurses very well around Naples. They were offering around $18 hr, and then about $12 hr for living costs. So rounded out to be about $30 an hour total. Which to me didn't seem to be that great. Is this what some of you travelers have earned, or should I expect more? Thanks everyone!
