So I joined the SNA and plan to be involved on my school level. My question is about the importance of being involved in the organization on a state and national level and attending the various conferences. Thoughts?

you will get a variety of opinions on this. I am an active member of my state nurses association because I can participate in providing information to our attorney and lobbyist when nursing issues are before Congress. I like to promote nursing as a career and as a calling. I like to be part of my state's efforts to raise the bar in nursing so that we are rightly perceived as an an accomplished body of people. On the negative side, I get a vote when I DON'T like something too. If we do not promote our professionial face to the public, then who will?
