student nurse
hi all, i am a third year nursing degree student, i have just learnt that i have not passed my exam in one of my modules, i have passed everything else. on the day of the exam i went to pot, i have dyslexia and this combined with my panic of the exam caused me to fail. I got offered the chance to retake the exam, however the stress and panic of me failing again my have affected my perfomance and i failed again the course assessment board suggested that i fail the course. Im so upset i have been advised to appeal against this decision has this happen to anyone else and waht was the outcome?

I have never had to appeal anything but from what I see on this board outcomes vary widely by school and situation. All you can do is go forward. You have nothing to lose by appealing. Be prepared to tell them what you will do differently if they readmit you. Whatever your educational challenges are, others have their individual challenges too and we all have to manage them, somehow, some way. What do you think you could do to better manage yours? This is not admitting fault - this is taking back your power. Show them you are serious - after all, the only person in this whole mess that you have control over is yourself. So tell them what you will do to do YOUR part. Think about it and share those thoughts in your appeal. Your learning disability is a reality and one that could rob you of the career you want. How will you keep that from happening? What are your rights to accomodations and were those met? If so, it wasn't your disability that got you here, it was something else. If not, you may wish to broach that in your appeal. Best of luck.
thank you so much for your advice i will give it my all in the appeal, after all what you said about not letting my learning disability rob me of my career.
