Maryville v USA v Regis (PMHNP)

Nursing Students NP Students

I'm looking for input on program quality and reputation for Maryville University vs University of South Alabama vs Regis College (MA) for PMHNP MSN.

These are all non-profits brick and mortar schools around for over 100 years with online programs. I am unable to move for school and there are none in driving distance, so I have to choose an online program. I have willing local PMHNP & MD preceptors. But nobody around here knows much about the schools.

The only single academic comparison metric I can find...

Avg undergrad ACT:

Maryville: 25

USA: 23

Regis: 22

I can compare that to my BSN program (25) or my first undergrad (29) or my own score (35), but undergrad ACT isn't much of a metric when looking at a specific grad program.

I'd have chosen (I'd be a legacy), but it is a 3+ year programs with no start dates until over a year from now.

Grad dates:

Marvyille: May '20

USA: Dec '19

Regis: Aug '19

Program Length/Credits/Clinical

Maryville: 2.7 years, 50 credits, 745 hours

USA: 2 years, 45 credits, 600 hours

Regis: 2 years, 49 Credits, 600 hours

Cost:

Marville: 42K

USA: 42K

Regis: 55K

Any input is appreciated!

Did the tuition go up or something? From my research, they cost about the same but Maryville has more fees unless Regis has some I'm not aware of, it still seems like a bit less. Are you still impressed with Regis? How much time does it require weekly?

I think they are all about the same price but honestly haven't looked at the comparison lately.

I'm going through this same process now. I am trying to decide between Maryville and Regis. These responses have greatly helped and I would really appreciate more input. Has anyone started clinical or even started the process of securing a clinical site? Do you have any pointers to help obtain a clinical site. This of course is my biggest concern but anything else would also be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

Despite the 2 year psych experience requirement, you were still accepted? How did you pull that off?

I'm working on PMHNP at Regis now (online), and have had a good experience so far. The asynchronous lectures are fantastic, and the online library is extensive for research. The Student Support staff is very available and helpful. We have had some group Discussion Board assignments - which were a disaster - but the rest has been independent. As with any program, the quality of the class varies tremendously with the professor teaching it.

Thanks so much for your post! Oh my goodness, trying to find reviews on the Regis online NP programs is like finding a needle in a haystack . How much time does the program require weekly? Do you feel that assignment expect ations are easy to understand? I start Online Psych NP next month. I would love any info you can give me. I'm in Utah so trying to find peace with my decision to attend Regis hasn't been easy. Most of what I read makes me want to run the other direction.

Hi Jenn, I am also starting Regis College PMHNP online total 25 credits. Even though I already took NU 605 but they are making me retake it because they did not accept my credit because it did not match with theirs, I have read some post about Regis and I am very nervous. I am starting March 30 for summer 2018 do you have any info you can share?

Did you have to take NU 605 if so how was it?

Just got accepted into post masters pmhnp program a fall 2018 wanted to start my preceptor search, do they let you know preceptor criteria.

Hello, I'm very sorry that I didn't see your post/ question. I'm guessing you are taking NU605 now? What do you think so far? I'm hanging in there but it is a lot to add into life, spending about 20 hrs per week on everything.

Hello, I am interested in starting a PMHNP post masters certificate. How do you like the program so far?
