Dilemma choosing schools

Hey, y'all! I was just accepted yesterday into Maryville Univeristy for the MSN in PMHNP. Their application process was quick and I didn't have to wait very long with the acceptance process. I also applied to Frontier, which is my first pick out of the two, but their process is much slower. Like way slower (having to send every last document through snail mail.)

I emailed Frontier's admissions rep and asked how the acceptance process was going. I mentioned that I had another school accepting me, so I was wanting to hear back from Frontier before I accept anything. She replied back that their application due date closed yesterday (11/19/2018) and they wont make any admission decisions for 6 weeks.

I'm really not sure how to go about doing this. Maryville has an acceptance document that they would like for me to sign to accept my spot. However, I'm really hoping on Frontier (mainly becaus it is cheaper.)

What should I do?!

If Frontier takes 6 weeks, you might just have to accept Maryville and put in the deposit. This way you are sure to get into Maryville if you don't get into Frontier. If you do get into Frontier, you'll lose your deposit but save more money in the long run because Frontier is cheaper (and probably a better school anyway).

Ask Maryville for an extension. The worst they can say is no. Neither program is known for being competitive (although the PMHNP program at Fronteir is new) and tend to admit whoever meets their minimum criteria.

I would choose Frontier over Maryville. Much better reputation. Does not do any on-campus intensives whatsoever (how are you supposed to learn skills?) and they do a TON of group work. If you want to "secure" a spot just in case you don't get in, I'm sure Maryville will allow you to defer to another semester. They have 5 different start dates per year. I'd definitely hold out for Frontier's decision first!

I would just say no to Maryville. I wouldn't go there.

That 3rd sentence should read "Maryville does not do any on-campus intensives...". Just re-read it and noticed the awkward sentence structure. Sorry! Night shift brain :p
