Anyone enrolled or graduated from Spring Arbor's MSN FNP program?

I am looking for some feedback on Spring Arbor's Online MSN Family nurse practitioner program. Has anyone attended or graduated from there? I have had some good conversations with the admission team and it seems like a great program. They are accredited and it is part time, taking almost 3 years to complete. I can't find many reviews from students online. Would appreciate any information!

I don't think so. I won't be heading to MI until March of next year, I believe.

This is my last week of my course before our two week break. If there is anything I have to complain about it's the fact that we have group projects the last 3 weeks of this course, and the fact that instructors do not grade our assignments in a timely manner. Other than that, I cannot complain.

Can you tell me if there are more assignments in future classes that will require being in groups again?

Hi Everyone ~ I start the program at SAU October 3. Can anyone share that facebook page mentioned earlier for clinicals/preceptors? Thank you in advance :-)

Hi @rc9213!! I was suppose to start oct3rd as well. However, I am starting aug 29 now. I was looking for the same page as well. So excited to start! I am looking at clinicals through the hospital Iam working at!

The group is called "nurse practitioner community for students and credentialed"

After much research, I chose Spring Arbor University for my MSN/NP program. The reasons are 1) I didn't want a "meat grinder" program having professors looking to weed everyone out (been there done that!). I have spoken to several NPS who have graduated from top ten MSN/NP programs and many have said it was absolutely awful. NO THANKS! When speaking to every single representative from SAU, they were all super nice and easy to work with (kudos to Georgia who is amazing). I believe that their Christian values play a big role in creating an atmosphere where the school wants to help you succeed rather than make your life miserable. 2) This is a great value school according to USA News and World Report. I have three daughters in college/private school and I just cannot justify paying 100k for a "meat grinder" program. All in, currently tuition is approximately 32K and it can be funded through FAFSA and government loans. 3) It is almost 100% on-line and only requires one campus visit during the program. I work more than full-time and just do not have the time or energy to drive to and from classes; nor do I have time during the day to go to class. Additionally, I like the fact that the clinical hours can be completed in your own location. I did a few on-line classes via University of Victoria, Canada and I loved being in the comfort of my home with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine if I so desired. : ) Spring Arbor University should rank in the top 10 for RNs who work full-time because it has been super convenient. 4) Accreditation: Spring Arbor's Graduate Nursing Programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) to 2021.

So if you are trying to decide, I would definitely recommend checking out Spring Arbor University.

Hello I've been looking for FNP program too and this school keeps popping up..so I'm glad I found this post.im assuming you guys have started already..how is it so far? How long was the admission/ acceptance process ? If you could tell me more info about this school it would be so great! Thanks in advance....

BHFA, did you start the SAU FNP program yet? If so, how do you like it so far? I am reasearching programs and SUA keeps popping up.

I start clinicals soon. My biggest complaint is apparently being redesigned and it was the capstone so it may be better or worse for future classes. They don't find preceptors but very few programs do (one brick and mortar school used urgent care for a friend's peds clinicals).

I'm looking at programs and SAU is in my top three choices. What have the courses been like so far? How many exams/papers for each course?

Most of the courses have been pleasant. The one I complain about is the capstone but I hear they are changing the capstone so it will be different for future classes.

Most courses have a discussion board post each week and usually a project or a paper to do. The papers are reasonable in length and I don't think I have had to write something longer than 3 pages except for the capstone. Sometimes there are exams to do and only one exam felt unfair. Usually it is a discussion board post and something else whether it is a quiz, paper, power point, etc.

No matter what program you choose, I encourage you to look at PERRLA for APA format. It takes some learning to utilize it but it works well once you get used to it. Life saver in terms of doing APA papers. I had a coworker who never used it and I encouraged them to use it for Ohio University in the last class. He wished he had found it earlier.

There is 1 or 2 residencies you have to come to campus. 1 involves the scrotum and pelvic exams on live models. I hope they expand this and increase the group size since the program has really grown since it started and they should either offer more days or have more models.

Spring Arbor is a school that is known in Michigan and northwest Ohio for their RN to BSN programs. It was very well known for their RN to BSN program prior to the online programs since it would come out to college campuses who had nursing programs or hospitals and teach the classes 1 day a week. My friend wanted to do their RN to BSN program because it was on campus instead of doing it online with OU like I tried to get her to do. So it is a real school with a real campus. They are also known for their ministry programs and social worker programs. They are starting up an actual traditional BSN program too.

It has a Christian mission but I'm an atheist so it doesn't bother me. I believe one or two people are Muslim and someone else isn't Christian.

There has been an increase in the amount of out of state students too.
