Anyone enrolled or graduated from Spring Arbor's MSN FNP program?

I am looking for some feedback on Spring Arbor's Online MSN Family nurse practitioner program. Has anyone attended or graduated from there? I have had some good conversations with the admission team and it seems like a great program. They are accredited and it is part time, taking almost 3 years to complete. I can't find many reviews from students online. Would appreciate any information!

There's a Facebook group page for NP students and preceptors that I can send you if you're interested. My friend used that page to look up clinical sites when she went through the midwifery program at university of Cincinnati online

I'm in the general classes right now (next semester is pharm and patho) so my books have been dirt cheap. Next semester it may change. They may get you with a 300 level stats class. They are really strict on that. Ohio University required 200. They had to make an exception because a lot of people did not read their acceptance letter closely and they did not realize their stats class didn't transfer. I think half of the students were hoping to fly under the radar though. Feeling a little stressed due to realizing the challenge of finding clinical sites. I am looking at clinical sites now so it's my first time.

Yeah that is my biggest concern... Having to find clinical sites but it seems that way for most np programs now. It worries me... How many different areas do you need to do clinicals in?

FloridagalRN, did you hear back yet?

Wanted to bump this to see how it's going for everyone! I'm applying for fall now

I'm in my 2nd class there, and I like it a lot. The instructors are flexible, understanding, and the class goes by fast being only 7 weeks long.

Great, thanks for getting back to me! I'm just nervous to chose a school that will steer me in the right direction! Good luck on the rest of your classes!

I am only in my first class. Just began actually 2 weeks ago! So far so good haha. But the admissions process has been great! Everyone is so helpful and supportive. I am looking forward to progressing through this program! Good luck to you !!

Glad to hear your success so far, thanks for the response :) I'm applying today!

I'm in the third semester. Right now I'm in patho. My clinicals start in January. So far so good.

Hello Everyone!!

I am from Virginia and was accepted in the FNP program. I have to make a choice between SAU and Chamberlin. I am so happy to see all the reviews and thank you every one for taking time to write the reviews. It was certainly not easy to find reviews on the university. Anyone has any input for me. If I choose SAU (which most likely I will!), I will be starting in October. Please let us know how everything is going in the program so far! Any challenges you guys facing?

Thanks for the reply!!

I have about 3 more weeks of my third class. So far so good. Grading is fair, instructors are personable and flexible. I really do enjoy this school and the track that I am in. My question to you, applesxoranges, how hard is the advanced patho class? I start that next semester. How are the tests performed? Do you have to go to an official proctored facility? Also, with the capstone project for the following semester, I am a little confused. Is that what the one week long ordeal in MI is considered?

Patho was not that hard. I enjoyed the class. They had case studies that involved researching different factors. There was also a mock scenario where you had to make up labs and different diagnostic tests for a patient and come to a conclusion based on those labs what it was. (I used A manual of laboratory and diagnostic tests to help create the scenario). Slim chance you will see my work as an example that week. I kind of did things easy because I made my lab values clearly indicate one or other (viral vs bacterial meningitis). The tests were online and I took them at home but I think patho had one or two tests. The final exam in patho was kind of hard because I was expecting 50 questions but it was 100. It's 50 points but out of 100 questions.

In pharm, we have had two tests but they were easy but once again, there are case studies and discussion boards based on current topics. The case studies and discussion boards are worth more than the tests.

Capstone is not my favorite class. Maybe it's because of the way they are doing it? I also have a crummy topic so I would really think of a topic now if you don't have a project at work because you start working on the topic on day one. Having a crappy topic and then finding out I have no recent info on it was really depressing. I'd start trying to find a topic asap. Also, one downside is that if you try to do a project, be prepared for it to last the whole program since they have it spaced out. If you want to do a literature review on a topic, I'd start looking at how many articles you can find for topics now.

We have three days in Michigan next semester in October but that is for learning skills from what I am understanding. Are they combining our cohort with your cohort for those days? I know one of the graduates explained it as basically they have medical models come in so I could see them combining the groups so they don't have to try and get the company to send the people twice.
