I am looking for some feedback on Spring Arbor's Online MSN Family nurse practitioner program. Has anyone attended or graduated from there? I have had some good conversations with the admission team and it seems like a great program. They are accredited and it is part time, taking almost 3 years to complete. I can't find many reviews from students online. Would appreciate any information!
I was accepted into FNP program starting last August. I feel like I was forced to dropped the program. My first class was ethics (more about Christianity lessons rather than nursing ethics in first few weeks. The teacher was horrible non-understanding. I tried reaching out to my student success coach, I tried reaching out to The senior advisor and the director. To make a note that I literally was talking to my instructor about the grading on my papers and Her problem with my papers while I was on my way to the emergency room with my son. If that doesn't show how serious I was with my studies I don't know what would! While everybody recognized there was a problem but nobody helped. The problem was that I was given hundred percent on my projects and less than 50% on my discussion points which was most of the points to pass the class. I was told I was doing exceptionally good job on my projects Barbara she was having a hard time understanding my discussion board í ½í¸¡ Whatever that meant ???
My student success coach agreed and said of course there is a huge disconnect between the grading pattern.
The workload is huge!!! you have one project one research paper (7-12 pages), one discussion board (2 pages) and two replies (1 page)to discussion board per week. If you're Christian I guess that's OK if you're not I think they are really biased! Oh discussion boards are not really discussions they are literally two pages papers with APA format on the word document
I was so disappointed, frustrated, and angry in the process and the way the situation and my problems with the teacher we're handled. I had to drop out to weeks before the class ended.
I was so excited to start with Spring Arbor but it didn't really lived up to its reputation.
My student success coach and my classmates really encouraged me to get onto the next class and take the ethics class again what some other instructor. I could have done it but It felt like they really let me down I had huge expectations from them. I figured if they can handle student complaints it wasn't worth wasting all my money plus they had additional statistics class ridiculous when I had one from a renounced university.
Program itself is three years which we were lied to you at first and were told we will be done in 2-2 1/2 years. I am enrolled in Walden U and I'll be done before cohort I started with!
I can literally prove everything I said if anybody have any questions! I have way more stuff than I can right here trust me the conversation with my teacher were not pleasant she literally made me feel like I wasn't worth being a FNP. On This note let me tell you that I have 3.9 GPA in my ADN and for 4.0 BSN.
Well, I don't know if my teacher was different but we did not have to do that much for ethics class. The ethics class was really the only one that was really Christian-like although I am an atheist. When I took the ethics class, my discussion board posts were between 1 page and 2 pages which isn't a lot. Discussion board replies were about half a page. This is excluding APA formatting.
PERRLA makes it easier to do APA formatting. I've used PERRLA in both undergrad and in grad school so I am used to it. My former coworker complained and said he wished he knew about it prior his last semester at Ohio University. It is a program that works with Microsoft Word to format papers. It has a small learning curve but it is a life saver.
My big problem class was the capstone class but they are redoing the capstone class so I do not know what it will be like for future classes. I had to repeat my capstone class but I will be honest and say that I had a horrible topic that seemed promising. My choice 2nd time around was a lot better. I am in my first semester of classes.
I am honestly glad that I chose to do Spring Arbor because of the extended time to do clinicals. You can complete it in 2.5 years but you would have to increase the amount of clinical hours and notify them beforehand of your intent to graduate sooner. I like having the flexibility. I am not rushed to find preceptors or juggling a full work load. I will be halfway done with my clinical this semester and I should be done by the end of March giving me an extra month to work overtime so I can work less during the summer.
I've decided to enroll in Spring Arbor's AGNP program. I was a little apprehensive due to the length of the program and the 300 level statistics course I'm required to take but after researching the school/program I decided to moVe forward. I'm really interested in the FNP program but I haven't secured a peds preceptor just yet so I enrolled in the AGNP. My first class begins April 10th. Very excited í ½í¸¬
I have been accepted to SAU into the June 5th cohort. They have recently lowered the statistics requirement to a level 200 course, and apparently the one I took for my BSN was adequate even though it wasn't their 'required' level. My application was received on a Monday and I had the acceptance letter by that same Wednesday. The admission staff has been very helpful and accommodating. The whole process from application to registration has been effortless. I am currently working with the Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs offices for my funding issues, and so far so good!
