Struggling to find online LPN program

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi everyone,

I am getting a bit desperate. I am currently living in Japan and for personal reasons I need to stay another year. Nursing is something I really want to do, and I don't want to waste this last year. I was hoping to start a program online to get what course work I can done before I return home.

The thing is, I have been scouring the internet for information. I have talked to a few schools, but they tell me they only have a bachelor's or Master's program which does me little good without RN qualifications. The websites all send me in circles, and I can't make heads or tails of any of it. Can someone please let me know if they have done an online course for LPN certification and what school? I would be so thankful!

I don't think that they have an on line program to become an LPN. Others can chime in and correct me, but I don't think so (or rather, I have not heard of one). For many, an LPN program would be the first experience with nursing, and I think it would be really hard to become an LPN just by reading and no clinical experiences or labs to learn nursing tasks. I would be a bit uncomfortable to take an on line course for that, to be honest, because there is so much that has to be learned, from vital signs, suctioning, sterile techniques, medication administration, injections, the works! Good luck, though!

I don't think there are any LPN programs online also. I do think that it would be a good idea to maybe take some online classes (i.e. nutrition, psych) that could be transfered to help you along in a LPN program when you get back to the states. Look at the college you want to attend when you move back to the states and see what classes can be tranferred.

GOOD LUCK

the only one that you can do online is a CNA course at 900 cost..which you help you a lot and would be a beginning...

But still without having the hands on,,

That's because there aren't any purely online LPN programs because of the reasons the other posters mentioned. However you could probably began taking some prerequisite courses online. Check the colleges you want to attend once you get back here and see what they offer for distance learning and what are the requirements to enter their nursing programs.

I found one but they require you to attend their nursing concepts course on campus. I forget the name and it's in the mid west somewhere. My friend also told me there's one in va too but she didnt give me the name yet.

Not to sound negative, because I want everyone to succeed. But I could NEVER EVER in a million years imagine going to LPN school online. LPN to RN is one thing but LPN only... and if you have no other healthcare experience I think would be extremely hard. It's hard under "normal" classroom circumstances, but online would blow my mind. At least in class you find friends and build a support system. Online :)you are on your own. Something to think about~ Either way I wish you the best!!!

Personally I do better in self study situations.

:D hello. i am in the ne ohio area and there are no on-line courses for lpn/lvn programs. we have alot of schools available here for nursing, which is why clinical space is so limited. anyways, no matter what type of learning benefits a person most, a computer course can not answer every question as to why or be able to apply it to a "real world" nursing experience/situation. especially if it is a new field of study/occupation for a person. good luck in finding classes that will fit your needs. i would get your certification as nursing assistant first and see if you would like to further that career path.

Thanks everyone! I realized I wouldn't be able to fully complete a LPN certification online for obvious reasons, but I did think I could start the purely bookwork courses from here. The idea to call the school I plan to attend was spot on and I will do that. I can't believe I didn't think of that. :doh:Thanks again! I was really thinking it was hopeless.

The only thing that you can do online is take your prerequisites....Most nursing schools at Universities or Jr. Colleges have prerequisites....

I have never heard of an online LPN program.

My recommendation would be that you start Nursing school pre-requisites. In most cases, this would be English 1 and 2, some science courses, etc.

Good luck in your search.
