Structured Nursing Review

I'd love to hear from people who took this class. Was it helpful? At EMCC, they registered us for it automatically but said it is optional and we can ask to be removed from it. The problem is, once we decide to stay in the class we are then obligated to attend. It's not a class we can drop in on when we want the help and skip when we feel we're doing ok on things. I don't want to waste my time and have yet another thing on my plate to juggle and a class to attend even when I don't feel I need the help.

If you've taken this with your blocks, i'd love to hear feedback!

I took it in Block 1 and did not find it helpful, much like a lot of other people I've talked to. There was such a low interest in it for Block 2 that they did not offer it. I am taking it for Block 3 and have heard from many people it's extremely helpful. It's also set up different for Block 3 though.

Thank you for the reply, I'm so torn between taking it or not. I spoke with two people who said they found it helpful. One of them said sometimes it wasn't but overall it was. I just don't want to add another hour to my plate of its a waste of time. Thanks for the feedback :)

I go to MCC and there were people in Block 1 who liked it, but overall, the majority did not find it helpful. If that many people had found it helpful, there would have been much more interest in having a review class for Block 2, but there wasn't. After a few weeks of it, I found myself wishing I hadn't taken it because it was too late to drop, and if you don't show up, you get a Fail grade for it. I really felt like it was a waste of an hour that I could have been at home studying. :-\

I appreciate the input! That's my fear with it is wasting my time for no reason. I wish it was a come and go as you please kind of class, like if you need the help come and if not then don't. I don't understand why they don't just offer it as a study hour that way.

I'm so glad this was asked! I was wondering about it as well. What kind of information do you go over for Block 1? Does is consist of reviewing what we learned in our prereqs, or what exactly?

Anyone here anything about the Nursing and Allied Health Pre-requisites Refresher ? Anyone doing it? It says it's free and self paced.

I was told it's like an extra study hour to ask the instructor for clarification on things and go over stuff you are learning in block 1.

I had not heard of that!

Yeah it's on GCC welcome page. I haven't decided whether to do it or not. I know my friend from GWCC has the option to do it too so I think anyone can sign up for it.

Oh. Interesting. I'm not entirely sure that would be beneficial for me. The prereq review seems like it mmmmight be, though.

It's called MC M.A.R.R.C.
