Stop, putting this on me...

What do you do?

Every time a student (K-5, 485 students) has a potty accident or falls in the mud the teachers and the front end staff sends the child to me. I do not have a supply of clean underwear for the children and therefore I feel this is NOT a nursing issue. I have continued to tell the teachers and the front end staff to look up the phone number & call their parents for fresh underclothes and clothing, but they continue to come to my office and I have to do everything. I can be in my office giving out medications or tending to a medical situation, when the student comes in and states the, "the lady upfront told me to come to you so you can clean me up or call my mom". Really!

And there it is!!! Why does the "other duties" only apply to nurses and not other staff????

This past week was better.. I ask parents to supply their child with clean clothes in the backpack and it actually happened. I requested spare/donated uniforms (received)and I bought several pairs of underwear for both boys & girls, if needed. I discussed with admin who does what in this situation and WE determined, "whoever sees or hears it first owns it", funny but it seemed to work. Thanks for everyone's input, but "BuyerBeware" I was confused about yours, anywho... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Those "other duties" do apply to other staff. I'm glad I get to stay in my warm office all day instead of recess duty, lunch duty, bus duty, etc, etc. Yeah, the pee-pee pants stuff gets old fast, but someone's gotta do it. I do wish children would keep extra clothes in their backpack, though, because finding the right sizes is a big waste of time.

In my district, these are either duties that are specific to aides or stipends are paid for them.
