Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!

Mid-life crisis career change...LOL...no clinical experience but I have a 4.0 in my prerequisites, took them this past year, but my undergrad GPA was only a 3.0 because I REALLY enjoyed myself at Villanova....LOL..
Same! I'm a few years out of my first undergrad and no clinical experience other than currently volunteering at a hospital laboratory, background is in financial technology.. feeling nervous because I've read that clinical experience helps a lot but fingers crossed!!

I hear you! I don't think they take clinical experience into account or at least they don't hold it against you. I think they want well rounded individuals. I know people who were teachers, had no clinical experience and got in. My husband is an OB/GYN at Stony Brook and knows alot of nurses who went through the program. One was an accountant too! I have hope! Just impatient and want to know now! LOL!
Hi all! Just wanted to join in on the thread, I applied as well and very anxious to hear when interviews will be rolling out. I have a BA in Psychology and worked in the mental health field, changed careers and now home raising my preschoolers while completing prerequisites. I'm relieved to hear people have been accepted coming from all kinds of non-clinical fields.
Wishing everyone the best of luck! Did anyone here also apply to their Basic BSN program?
And special HI to BHunt!! ?

Hello to my fellow mid-life crisis momma! I have two little ones as well! I'm also applying to the Basic BSN program. Hoping I get in to at least one of them! I think clinical experience helps but doesn't hurt you if you have none. The nurses that went through the program that work with my husband were teachers, an accountant, and a finance manager. Unfortunately when I did my essay there was no way I could stick in that my husband was an attending at SB hospital and an associate professor at SBU without looking like I was deliberately sticking it in! LOL!

Also, who did you use as references? I used professors and my old boss (who basically said I was a good employee), my AP professor recommended I ask my old employer even though it was an unrelated field.

I know the deadline already passed but I'm speaking in general terms and the application for the BBSN is still open and I don't see a thread for that program. Thanks for any input!
I sent in 5! LOL! 4 professors 1 employer
