Stony Brook's ABSN Class of 2023

Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance! 

Hello everyone,

I was accepted into the NYU ABSN program but unfortunately decided it was not a great decision. It was almost $130k. The price tag for just the name is ridiculous. 

I was just accepted into the University of Miami ABSN program but would rather go to Stony Brook (I live on LI). Miami starts in January and is also a 12 month program. I hope to hear back from Stony Brook no later than December to make my decision. 

I would love to get feedback or advice. I don’t know what to do. ?

Wow thats insane, 130k! was that with room & board? I would wait until the end of Oct to see if you get an interview for SB. Also, I would try to wait out my decision for UM as long as possible until you get the notification for SB. I think by Dec you know if you got in or not.

Nope that was just for tuition! They only give students around $3k every semester (scholarships)?

I don't think they found out until January last year if you check the last forum. Maybe you can pay deposit for Miami if they need an answer and just forfeit it if you get into SB?

they don't start reviewing until after the deadline and from the past forums interview invitations are typically sent in Oct/Nov and final decisions are given in January/February. many people said they didn't find out until classes started for other programs. it really sucks that they take so long to get back to you, its almost impossible to plan.

hi everyone! did yall send in your applications only after your letters of rec were received or did you submit before? I'm still waiting on mine to come through but don't want to wait til the last day to submit my app

I sent my application before they received my recommendation letters! Just make sure the recommendation letters are in before October 1st!

Ohh OK nice thanks! Did you see somewhere that the letters are due before the application? I had told my recommenders the same as the app deadline (October 7) but now I’m second guessing LOL

I think the deadline was October 1 earlier this year but they changed it to October 7, so you're good!

How's everyone doing? I finally submitted mine, now I'm having fun continuing to bug my letter writers and being paranoid that I uploaded the wrong file to my essay ? wish they left the file name up there so I could check!

Hi! I applied to the program! I have a 3.57 cumulative GPA, 4.0 from my graduating institute. My prereq GPA is only a 3.1 because I took many science classes before I was a mature student. I also applied to Binghamton and Le Moyne. Terrified I won't get into any. But, my LOR are exceptional in addition to my essay. We got this!

Nervously awaiting my last 2 rec writers to submit their letters today after my continual bugging them... why do they always wait until the last minute ?
