Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!

I didn't know Adelphi was that expensive for the program?? I am currently finishing their application.

I didn’t know either. It’s 20,000 more than I originally thought. I heard they give scholarships. Do you happen to know about this?

I'm not sure how they are with scholarships for their accelerated program. I thought scholarships were less often for a program like this versus undergrad.

Yes they do give some scholarships for the accelerated program! Last year it was definitely $100k, so check in with them for sure about that!

Last year I applied to Molloy, Adelphi, Binghamton, and Stony Brook. I got into Molloy and Adelphi, got waitlisted at Binghamton, and rejected from Stony Brook (hence why I am at Molloy). This year I only reapplied to Stony Brook and only the one-year program.

I applied to Adelphi too.. its a nightmare. When checking if my prerequisites matched over a year ago I was told yes. Was just emailed that my genetics course isn't and I can't retake it in the Spring online anywhere. Now I probably won't be able to go even if accepted...what was your GPA and prerequisites GPA?

Definitely check OpenSuny! That's where I took any of my missing prerequisite courses. It's pretty much an online database of all SUNY classes and you can take it over 4 weeks during Winter break. Might be worth it if you need it for May. They run about $1000, which is cheaper than most other schools. Just double check with Adelphi that they'll take it before registering. My regular GPA was like a 3.4 and prerequisite GPA was a 3.8.

OMG! You may have saved me... I go to Penn state and they don't take their class, no farming dale, no Nassau. I went out of my way to take patho last Summer for Adelphi only because penn state doesn't have the right one and now this.

Yes!! Definitely check it out. I took a Chemistry class, a nutrition class, and statistics class all through Open SUNY online at different schools. They're really not bad and there's so many options so they have to take something!!

Yes! Once you pick the school you want to take a class at you just send in a non-degree application through their website and you get accepted within like a week and then you can register for the class as a non-degree seeking student. Then once you complete the course you just have your official transcript sent to the school.

thank you SO much! doesn't seem like Adelphi takes many genetics courses man are they difficult

Just an FYI, I had emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) from the program and she said we would hear by the end of November if we were granted an interview. I saw alot of questions regarding when we would hear, thought I would share. I spoke with her last Thursday.
