is there anyone who applied to the 2 yr nursing program at Stony Brook?
The housing website states that chapin is also for health science center students.I'm pretty sure the one-year is more competitive because there are less seats and a ton of qualified applicants. I heard once that the admissions office said a lot of people who apply to the one-year aren't accepted, but could easily get into the two-year. You can apply to both, though.
Yea, Chapin is. They usually dont let undergrads live there though. I'm guessing they make an acception for nursing students since many are older and wont live in dorms. I know for the health science major they dont let you live in chapin unless you are doing the clinicals after graduation. I saw that they were building more buildings in Chapin and on campus so housing shouldnt be a problem.
I wonder if they accept alot of stony brook graduates i also graduated from stony brook
Heyy..a fellow Alumni!!:) That' so cool...what year did you graduate? I'm class of 09.
I dont know if they accept a lot of stony brook alumni/students. from what i've seen in the health science center...the 1yr had people who were much older so i dont know. but for the two yr, a lot were from stony brook. at the info session they said the two yr program sb students and alumni were given preference only b/c they usually take a lot more science courses at one time and that would be taken into account.(So if you did the same thing at another school then u have the same chance) i know for their prenursing club the students get to network directly with people in charge of the nursing program when they do volunteer work as a club. that was my mistake for not getting up at 7am on saturdays to attend the events when i was on campus:(..lol. we will never really know what thoughts go into their admissions..times like this you wish you were a fly on the wall..lol
Ooo you two are alumni? I'm sure that makes it a lot easier to work the system, since you've already been there done that... so whats the procedure as far as on-campus housing? When do I have to start worrying about it?
I dont think it makes it easier (unless you are currently there to meet professors, etc). I wouldnt mind if they did though... If i dont get in then i will take some classes, make my job pay for them then just try again.
