Nrz2bee did u finish all your pre-reqs?

Yes, I finished them at Stony Brook...i have had this gut feeling from the start that i wont get into the 1yr but the 2 yr program(fingers crossed). Did you finish your prereqs? Honestly the two year program is longer, especially since i already have a degree but to be able to work and go to school is a must.it will be worth it in the end when i graduate and have that RN license. I dont think i ever wanted something this much. Sorry if this question is off topic but do you know why they REQUIRE you to put if you want on campus housing or not on the application? does it affect their decision?

no i need one more group dynamics which i'm taking this spring and about your question i was wondering the same thing i have no clue why they would ask that. so do you work in the healthcare field? and i feel the same way i pray to god that they give me a chance and i get accepted i want it really bad too i've been working really hard trying to make this happen it's my dream to become a nurse

I hope we both get in:) Group dynamics is like group theory or social psych right? I felt unsure why they required knowledge about if i was to live on campus or not. i may decide to live on campus since i wont have to worry about commuting and i can use loans to pay for housing while i worked. i just got a job at stony brook hospital. i dont know what to do if i dont get in.... do you work in the healthcare field?

I can't say for sure but once you're accepted you have the option of applying for housing anyway. I doubt it has any effect on their admissions decision, but perhaps they save a spot for you in the designated chapin apartments (the complex nearest to the health sciences center) if you write that you require housing. Don't quote me on this though.

If you end up finding out from the admissions office itself, would you mind sharing the info?

thanks!

Yea, maybe. I thought Chapin was only for post-bacc or grad students..i dunno. there's west apts and schomburg but i think schomburg is only for grad, med, or post bacc students. but u are right i think its maybe just to save a spot. if they accept me before May( i think its the deadline for housing) then i will inform them i may be interested in housing. if they have me waitlisted after May then i guess i cant do the housing thing. I will e-mail the school of nursing and ask this question. they must be so tired of me e-mailing them..lol. but i have to make sure they get my stuff on time. i will relay the message when i e-mail them:)

does anyone know which program is more competitive the one year or the 2 year?

The housing website states that chapin is also for health science center students.

I'm pretty sure the one-year is more competitive because there are less seats and a ton of qualified applicants. I heard once that the admissions office said a lot of people who apply to the one-year aren't accepted, but could easily get into the two-year. You can apply to both, though.
