Stony Brook FNP Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Just wanted to open a thread for those applying to Stony Brook's FNP program for Summer 2020 ?. It's super early but I want to submit my app asap (currently working on the essay).

For those of you applying to Stony Brook, which schools are you also considering?

Hello everyone! So I had my group (5 of prospective students and 2 faculty members) interview from 10 to 11. I had issues connecting and tuned in last while the faculty was already speaking to everyone. The questions were general. Tell us about your experience, why FNP and why SBU. Then what is NP and where do you see yourself in 5 years. It was nerve-wracking as some people have extensive work/life experiences and it's hard to not be repetitive and stand out. I am glad that it's over but not feeling particularly great about it. They mentioned that there are a lot of applicants and more to be interviewed. ONLY 60 spots in the program!!! ? The decision will be emailed in late February and if accepted, you have a week to respond. Anyone else has interviews coming up? good luck to us all!

Lol me too Isabelle. Don’t worry it’s still early ?

Congrats! You are the first to be contacted on our little thread! Good luck on your interview. Some threads on this site tells you what they asked, so prep yourself, maybe write a little notes so you don’t get stuck!

I have heard nothing yet, I was going to call them today. I applied 11/5, I’m thinking not to even bother, looking into Utica college online FNP but there’s a prob with accreditation need to clarify. I think SBU always says there’s only 60 slots part of me wants to believe that a lie, I tried to check SBU schedule of classes but they don’t allow public access, I don’t want to wait until feb for a decision and miss deadlines for other schools.

@AnnaOBRNC that sounds slightly intimidating ?... thank you for sharing with us!!! Did the status of your application change at all or does it still just say admitted?

Hello all,

I submitted my application 11/29/19 and got an invitation to interview on 12/9/19. Interview was pretty straight forward and not intimidating at all. I was told that there are 50 seats and there were ~400 applicants with ~100 making it to interviews. Notifications should be sent out Feb/March. Good luck!

I just completed my interview. Very nerve wracking with video chat format!

They said they had 400-500 applicants and 48 seats. Should hear back end of January beginning of February. And that they are still interviewing people.
