Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the Stony Brook accelerated (1 year) program and here to help with questions you might have. It was useful for me to look at the thread from last year when I was applying so I wanted to get one started for all of you. Feel free to post questions or message me. I hope this is helpful.

Not a peep. But that's not stopping me from checking my email/ solar every 5 minutes or so.

Last year they heard back on December 7th. Obsessively checking my email all day

Ahh I hope you're right! I am getting so anxious

Can anyone talk a little more in detail about the day to day schedule of the program? I read on another forum that clinicals are on Thursdays for the first semester and class Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday? What are the future semesters like after the first one? Do you have a lot clinicals on the weekends?

Hi,

For the summer:"Lectures were Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday and Wednesday technically went from 9-6 but there were not many days that we were actually there that long because we did not have Med Math every day. It was usually 9-4. Friday was 9-12 (definitely nice!). Tuesday was lab and 8:30-3:30. We had one online class and another semi online class that was collaborative so it didn't take much time."

Fall semester: We have class Monday from 4pm-8pm, Wednesday from 9am-6pm, Friday 8am-11am. Some mondays we have lab or simulation in the morning, so we are there in the morning if we have something scheduled. We had a few monday mornings free. On Tuesdays I had 8 hour clinical for half of the semester and 12 hour clinical for the other half. On thursdays, I had an 8 hour clinical every week. For me, my week was monday-friday but other clinical groups have their clinical days on the weekend (it all depends on the clinical group you get). my clinical group for the summer had variable clinical days (saturday, sunday, thursday), but we knew all of the dates as soon as we were assigned a clinical group. Most groups had it on Thursdays during the summer.

Thanks! Do they tell you how they decide what clinical group you're in or is it random?
