It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
Another question for current students: what shoes do you use for clinical? If they can't be clogs or sneakers does that just leave "traditional" nursing shoes? I'm cool with the old-lady look but want to be aware of my options![/quote']
Yeah...I'm not sore why they say no sneakers because everyone does. Most people have all white athletic type shows like Nikes or something but just get all white shoes that are really really comfy! The so have to be pretty much all white. An outline of something in a different color is okay but they should be pretty much all white
Hi folks congratulations on those who are accepted. I had my interview on Oct 14th and just got the email this afternoon saying I was put on the Alternate list. Not terrible news, but certainly not what I wanted to hear.Best of luck to everybody else.'] So many people from the alternate list get accepted up until the first day so you still have really good chances!!!

I bought traditional "male" nursing shoes when I was in the program. HATED them. My Nikes are SO much more comfortable and that is what I wear as a nurse. If you are more comfortable in sneaks, buy those, as long as they are all white (and they wont kill you if you have a slight colored trim). Just dont get anything with holes in them like Crocs. Opt for leather, easier to wipe down with germicidal sheets if you get body fluids on them :)

It says no clogs or sneakers?? Buddy as long as they are all white, you're golden. Trust me! I'm in the two year program now.

Congrats to everyone who got in!! You are one of a few in a select group so be proud! Those of you still waiting, remember that many people in previous classes didn't find out they were accepted until a month or two before the program so don't lose hope!! The waiting is hard but it's not over.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy your break!
