It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
yeah i highly doubt that they will have an answer after thanksgiving. who knows how they pick though? they may already know who they want after the interview and maybe feel like interviewing more ppl. also some ppl applied to the two year so maybe they will factor that as well in where they can feel the candidate could do better. i just hope we start getting answers soon because the waiting is killing me!
I'm in the program now and we didn't find out until January (but they told us they wouldn't tell us till feb so they were actually early!). When they told us it seems like they told us in waves. Not everyone finds out at the same time. So some of you may find out at the end of november but others won't know until next year. It seemed like they only sent out like 40 acceptances at first. So don't be surprised if they still do interviews even after they accept some people!!
The waiting is really tough. You're better off not expecting to find out for several months because a lot of people won't. Some people on our class found out just a week before! So keep your hopes up but keep busy and just enjoy the holidays!

I dont know if you already picked your capstone/medsurge but I STRONGLY recommend choosing a a DEU at Stony Brook as it virtually guarantees you a job upon graduation. I graduated this recent May and between the 2 years and 1 years id say around 50% of classmates still dont have a job. DEU Students do both their medsurge + capstone on the same unit, and almost every single one of them immediately got hired on the floor they did their DEU on. As in we graduated in May, most DEU students were working on their floors in June.
Unless you plan on working at LIJ (thus doing your medsurge/capstone there) I really think DEU is the way to go.
