Stony Brook accelerated BSN - Summer 2010 start

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi everyone,

I would like to discuss with other students admitted into the Stony Brook accelerated BSN, starting summer 2010.

I am curious to meet my future classmates!

Hi NickSBU,

I am very interested in StonyBrook's program. I have a 3.1 GPA but volunteered at 3 hospitals and am going to work as a patient care technician in an ER starting this month. I was wondering if you could let me know if my experience will help compensate for my mediocre grades?

I barely had over a 3.0 and my experience was minimal

I think your personal statement/recommendation speaks volumes. Personally, I think those two things got me into the program.

Experience can't hurt but I really think you need to pour yourself into the statement. Moreover, choose carefully who you want to write recs (you need three).

GL!

thanks so much! i'll make sure i work hard for the statement and recommendations!

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Good luck to all of you that have begun the ABSN this summer. I was waitlisted and obviously not called to join you guys, but I WILL be reapplying! It was not meant to be for 2010 but I'm hoping this next year will be the charm. I am more confident in having a stronger application this year, with different recommendations, stronger experiences and completed list of prereqs!

BTW, new thread for people applying for Summer 2011 (shameless plug) :D

Congrats and good luck to all of you advancing your career into BSN at Stony Brook. Can one of you tell the the price for tuition?

Hi NickSBU,

I saw some of your other posts as well in regards of applying to SUNY Buffalo. I think my GPA is similar to yours and I'm just wondering if you got accepted into SUNY Buffalo.
