  1. I barely had over a 3.0 and my experience was minimal I think your personal statement/recommendation speaks volumes. Personally, I think those two things got me into the program. Experience can't hurt but I really think you need to pour yourself into the statement. Moreover, choose carefully who you want to write recs (you need three). GL!
  2. I'm going to look for off-campus housing. It would be ideal to find someone in the program to share an apt with. It seems that the norm for rooms near campus is around $650 per month. maybe we should start some sort of facebook group. I think more people from our program will find the rest of us that way.
  3. I got my acceptance letter a week ago. It was my first choice and I was freaking out about it throughout the fall. The time has come to look for housing. You think most people are going to be living off campus?
  4. I received my letter of acceptance last Tuesday. I'm a Stony Brook alumnus, and I'm also male, which undoubtedly factored into their decision. I worried myself sick during the summer thinking about the application process. The endless waiting after November 1st still has my stomach in a twist. I'm now finally understanding the magnitude of everything. I got into my top choice and I get to save MONEY! So, here is the information people want to know: Solar changed within the first week of January. As the case with others, a "new students" tab appeared even in the case of a past SBU graduate. GPA : 3.13 B.S. Health Science A&P I : C+ (Nassau CC) A&P II: IP MICRO : B+ (IP at the time of application) BIO 110: B+ (Nassau CC) At the time of application I was missing Micro and the second half of A&P. I know my rec letters were immaculate and my essays were excellent. I'm just a humble person trying to comprehend how I got accepted. I realize that several people commenting on this thread are more deserving than I am. I would absolutely HATE being on the decision making committee... I wish you all the best and hope to get to know each and every one of you at Stony Brook.
  5. Yeah... You definitely have absolutely nothing to worry about. You have a great GPA regardless of whatever blunders you may have encounters years ago. My volunteer experience was only a few months in the department or orthopedics at SBU. I figured I should just apply and let them decided. No use in not trying and failing myself. Like I said you will be fine
  6. I myself have been a lurker for quite some time. I've been watching for a SUNY Buffalo ABS thread but its been less than fruitful. Therefore, here I am! I'm out of hiding and I'll attempt to answer some of your questions. I applied well before the Nov. 1st deadline. I drove myself insane during the application process by including eight schools. I can't say any particular SUNY campus is my top priority. (I applied to SBU and BING as well). Its a great education and I won't be in debt for the rest of the foreseeable future. On to the stats: I graduated this past May from Stony Brook: B.S. Health Science GPA 3.13 Science GPA 3.43 Naturally, I realize i'm not nearly as qualified as other applicants. Moreover, several courses are IP or to be taken during the winter and spring (currently taking Micro, Nuitrition and Socieology). What remains is A&PII, Pathophys, pharamacology... I'm thinking theres more Anyway, I got an provisional acceptance to drexel as a fallback option. Its a tremendous load of my shoulders knowning I didn't completely fail at the process. I wish you, and all other SUNY Buffalo ABS hopefuls, the best of luck.
  7. I've been a lurker on these threads since the summer. I've decided to come out of hiding. Here is my first offical posting. The day before halloween I received a provisional acceptance package from Drexel. I had worried myself nearly to death regarding the possibility of being rejected by all of the programs that I applied to (8 I believe). I'm awaiting on SUNY schools for financial reasons. If I could offer anyone the slightest amount of advise during the application process - RELAX! I'm hoping I can sleep better now. More importantly, stats!. Heres what everyone wants to know B.S. Health Science 3.13 gpa from Stony Brook University. A&P1 C+ CHEM1 B- STAT B Microbiology, nutrition, and sociolgy are currently in prograss at Nassau Communit College Winterim - lifespan development Spring - A&P 132 - I also plan on taking a pathophys and pharmacology class. My point is simple. Clearly my gpa isn't great and I have several class still outstanding. My pre-reqs aren't great and I got in. Once again, relax - and GL to you all
