  1. I know the last comment was back in November, and I hope you have found a job by now, but I will try to answer your questions anyway! For any hospital, I would suggest checking the job sites daily for new postings. The position that I hold now at St St. Chris was posted one day (I had been checking multiple times a day everyday so this posting was only up for a few hours) and got a call the next day for an interview. There was "experience preferred" listed. In my opinion, St. Christopher's is very willing to accept new graduates on a regular basis....I guess its just the massive volume of applicants that makes it seem otherwise! And no, I had no previous experience, the best I had on my resume for pediatrics was that I was part of my school's Pediatric Society (basically a club that raised money and volunteered at certain public health events). My GPA was a 3.7. It's been a ride, but I'm still loving everything about my job! (besides the dreaded night shift haha) Every day I'm learning more and more and can see myself growing with every week. Good luck!
  2. Hi! Yes, I did get the job! I started in September and I LOVE it. I really couldn't imagine myself anywhere else--the kids are great and I love the people I work with. It's a much smaller hospital than CHOP but thats why I like it--everyone knows everybody and the doctors really appreciate your help. As far as the interview process went...I just eventually got a call back from the recruiter. I would check the website daily for any new postings and apply immediately to a posting that matches your interest. I ended up getting a call the next day for an interview. The interview itself was both professional and laid back and I ended up leaving more interested in the position than I was going in! It's been a great place to work so far. And I'm a new nurse and have found everyone to be helpful and theres a lot of resources to help me out. Good luck!
  3. Hi everyone, I am a BSN graduate who just became licensed last month. I've always had a deep interest in pediatrics and have been applying to positions for months. I finally received a call back from St. Christopher's saying they'd like to interview me for a med/surg position. I'm VERY nervous (I know, I know, everyone hates interviews) because this will be a panel of interviewers . Does anyone have any advice on handling these types of interviews, particularly at St. Chris's? I'm going to be so nervous that I'm scared my excitement about the position will not be evident (although I'm ECSTATIC to be considered for a pediatric nurse position as a new grad ) Also, does anyone have any experience at St. Chris's as a new grad? What is the support like? How is it in general working for this hospital as a nurse? All advice would be greatly appreciated!
  4. For those accepted--where are you all from? What are your plans as far as living arrangements? I'm from South Jersey so commuting wouldnt be bad but im thinking about living off campus someone close.
  5. I just received a pre-requisite completion letter in the mail (I have yet to hear an admissions decision) and it said my last 4 chemistry credits were to be fulfilled with Chemistry II or Biochem....
  6. There were 200 in the second review period. For someone reason I was accidentally placed in the 3rd review period and when i called Niki to have it fixed she mentioned there are 200 applicants for the 2nd. eek. i wonder how much of the FACT program was filled with the 1st review period?
  7. you should definitely do so...they said it had happened to a number of people and theyre not quite sure what went wrong.
  8. So Drexel really messed with my head...I checked the status of my application online on Friday and it said I had been denied. I called to see what the reason was and when they called me back today they had said they did not know why I had seen a denied notification because I had been ACCEPTED! So Im happy I was accepted, but they really had me worried for a bit. MAke sure you follow up if you see a denied admissions decision online!!
  9. Has anyone heard anything yet? Someone on a Thomas Jefferson thread said they have already been accepted.
  10. i missed the first deadline too due to one of my schools losing my transcript request (!!!) im feeling very discouraged though--it seems like the program will be filled by the 1st wave of applicants. i wish they would automatically consider applicants for their 2 year program if FACT is already filled....because that deadline has already passed as well!! uggghhh headache
  11. Yeah, Drexel looks at transcripts and GPA only...very different from all other schools! With that being said don't you think admission decisions can be made rather quickly? Just being anxious I guess!!! If anyone hears anything let us know!
  12. Hmmm when I talked to Niki 2 weeks ago she said that they COULD go through all review periods but most likely the program is filled by late November...she said they always go into the second review period so I guess they are extremely selective in this first review period.
  13. After I applied online I got a confirmation e-mail which included the link to check the status of your application, your ID number and PIN. The email says "you may hear before thanksgiving" so I know its far away but I still cant help checking almost everyday! Very anxious...
  14. Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has applied for Drexel's ACE program for fall 2010? My application was just completed and I'm very impatient! I check the status of my app online every single day! My first choice is Jefferson's FACT but I have a better chance of getting into Drexel. I'm a little nervous though because I don't see many good things about the ACE program on here
  15. I wanted to send everything in today but unfortunately my school has not yet mailed my transcripts so I will have to wait a little longer :-/ I guess the good part about it is that I can polish off my admissions essay! I'm pretty nervous TJU is my first choice and I think I'm right on the border for being a "competitive candidate."
