Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.
Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

So total would be about 18000$ I would say plus books (I spent almost 1500$ for just Summer but less in Fall) so let’s put another 3000$ total for book. It’s around $21,000 for the year (and it’s you’re qualified for TAP even better, it will be less out of your pocket).
Good look!
Thanks for sharing the tuition costs! Any chance you can also share how the program is going for you? I'm wondering how it is structured with classes in terms of days/hours, and how and when clinicals are scheduled. I'm in a wedding next Summer and curious if you're even allowed a day or 2 of flexibility since every accelerated program must be pretty intense.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ! THIS WAS BEYOND HELPFUL. Stony is my #1 but I'm anxious they won't send acceptances before other programs I've applied to start. When did you receive your acceptance? Also, any other Information and how you're liking the program so far would be so appreciated ?
I believed we started receiving interview emails first week of November last year, and there was only ONE round. And they only spent 2 Mondays interviewing about 150 people or so, we didn't hear from them until January 13 (probably the latest ever before), that's when I got my acceptance letter and other people got theirs few days later.
Just a little advice, Summer session is really tought, not much time to do much if you wanna make it through. Fall is going super great, more time to breathe.
Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the info! I'm wondering how it is structured with classes in terms of days/hours, and how and when clinicals are scheduled? I'm in a wedding next July and curious if you're even allowed a day of flexibility. Do you have consistent days off at all? Glad fall is going better!
@mj452 Well basically they want you to be available 7 days a week, I was lucky to have off on weekend, but other groups had clinicals on Saturday and/or Sunday, you will always have 2 days off in the Summer (to study) but you won't know until you start the program and have the schedule. If you're lucky to have nothing on the date that you wanted off, that's great. otherwise, you will have to let them know so you can have a make up clinical (which is not easy since everything is so tight). You have to try to work around the program schedule not the other way around unfortunately.
Besides, you have exam every other week and bunch of quizzes... 6 courses in 10 weeks!
It's a little early to worry. First interview... then get accepted. If you get in, I am sure you'll make it work!

Whoa, 6 in 10, that's intense! Glad you made it through that and thanks for replying!
Does anyone who started the program this year have any record of when the course enrollment/registration start and end dates were?
I have contacted every department at SBU from nursing to bursar to registrar but no one knows and they keep bouncing me around to each other. I am trying to find out the last day registration to see if I would even qualify for in-state tuition or if I should not bother even applying till next year. Thanks!
@mj452 this year, the program started on June 7th and we only had a few days to register. In this program nothing is done over a long period of time. I wouldn’t bother sending emails right now, they haven’t started processing applications yet. I am pretty sure they are busy with other stuffs. There are 3 different nursing program in session now. Don’t worry you will get your courses list just a week before you start and there will be enough room for everyone in the program it’s not who registers first gets in. So next year start date might be slightly different but it’s beginning of June.

Thank you - I know you have to have lived in NY for 12 months prior to the end of course registration, so I’m just trying to figure out if I should bother applying this year or if I missed the residency cut off by a mile. Thanks!
