Stony Brook ABSN Class of 2022

Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.

Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

@sp123 Hi, I had trouble getting in also, I did "forgot password" and they ask me for my SB id # and then I received an email to change password... I was rushing into it so I didn't read all the instructions, but it's pretty simple if you can do "reset password" then you will get a temporary code to which you have to add your birthday and zip code, I don't remember, but just follow the instructions and you will get in. Hope that helps.

There is an update to my application portal just now... but I’m so afraid to open it. Did anyone get anything just now and checked?

Yup, just got my rejection letter. Hopefully I have a better shot with their 2 year program!

Yeah I just got an email saying I had an update and it was a rejection. I didn’t get called for an interview though so I already knew what it was.

oh, how would this work? are you still applying for this cycle? or... and do you have to resubmit recommendation laters?

same but luckily I got my admissions to UB to fall on, but IDK I thought I was really strong candidate at least for an interview

I got into UB too so I guess I’ll see you in a few months!! And same I throughly that I would at least get called for an interview at SBU.

Right! I go to UB now and graduated a semester early this past December to wanting to give myself a break in jumping into a rigorous ABSN program. IDK if I would come back because they denied me when I applied for traditional last year but I guess it all worked out. I was hoping for bing tho but they waitlisted me so back to buff I go, and congrats on your acceptance too

So I submitted my applications for both programs at the same time back in October. I knew the ABSN has always been extremely competitive so I just wanted to apply to both programs and see what would happen. The people who wrote my LORs had to submit twice, but I used the same essay. The application deadline for the fall 2021 start was on 1/7/21.

I go to UB too! But I’m graduating in May. I couldn’t graduate early since I ended up changing my major during Junior year but I tried to keep my Spring schedule as light as possible so hopefully it’ll all work out! Are you in the UB facebook group? Also congrats on getting accepted too! Nursing schools, in general, and especially suny programs are hard to get in so it’s definitely something to be proud and excited about!
