Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.
Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

Like some pcts aren’t allowed to do ekgs and other things which I was trained to do.
Oh I see, that makes sense. I never put on there I was an certified EKG tech, or Phlebotomist or tele tech. I just put those as my duties. Hopefully I got the point across?
thanks for sharing!(:

Yeah I went over my resume and essay with a nursing tutor who specializes in admissions writing and she’s the one that suggested I explicitly state everything because the duties of techs is so diverse depending on the hospital. So I made to write that I’m certified as an ekg and tele tech along other things!

Did your hospital give you a certificate that you’re a certified ekg tech? Or do you have a certification number? I am just wondering how I would show proof like I can with my License as a Nursing Assistant

I had a number when I was first training but I honestly forgot what it was so I just used to type in my name when I was doing them. But I’m 99% sure that the hospital keeps track of that stuff and I still have my unit nursing manager’s contact info so I could text her if the program ever asks for it but I doubt it. I think they’ll just teach us again maybe during it and we’ll just have a leg up since we’ve done so many already!

Thanks for the info! Was kinda hoping we’d hear back a little sooner, but at least we know when to expect the emails.

Happy Monday and Election Eve! I am hopeful as well. I also sent in my University of Rochester app yesterday so I now have that on my mind too ?

Stony Brook to be quite honest. Bonus is that It’s closer to the city (I live in Brooklyn). Are you applying to any other schools?
btw - do you think they’ll allow me to upload an updated resume? I forgot to add my undergrad volunteer/leadership positions on my resume
