first of all i thank god that i found this site, it has helped me get a better understanding from those who are have similiar experiences a great communication vechicle. ive already obtained my b.s in health care management with a 3.2 gpa last year, i have yet to find a job, many require one to have min of 5yrs experience for entry level. my internship consisted of 6months, that being done @riverdale nursing home and colombia med icu unit repesectively. im currently working in the retail field in the midst of finding a job which allows me to utilize my bs degree. im currently focusing on becoming a nurse, im enrolled @ hunters pre nursing program ive taken gen chem last sesmeter got a B+ in lab and a C in lecture(actually started with an A but the final brought my grade down) im taking A&P the professor is great her exams are pretty straightforward most coming from her lectures. i got a 75 on first exam and 70 on second (which i thought was easier). the lab i got a 62 and today is the second. im at a state of depression:crying2: i never felt this way i was crying alot yesterday i really let myself down, im such a bad proscrinator and i realized you cant do such with this course. i guess my main question is do i have a chance in getting into an accerelated ny nursing program if i drop a&p take it over and defintely ace it? b/c its really due to my poor study habits im easily distracted and i put things off til later. has anyone been in such a predictament and has gotten into accerelated nursing school. im so discouraged but nursing is somthing i def wanted to do, its a career where i absolutely know im making a diference in someones life and happy with it. every advice is greatly appreciated.:heartbeat

Accelerated nursing programs are really competitive. With a C in two of your prerequisites (Chem and A&P), I'd say your chances are reduced. Why don't you make an appointment with an admissions counselor and get the "lowdown" on what you need to do in order to get accepted? Then you can make a decision about dropping your current course or staying in it.

Best of luck!

There is still hope but you either HAVE to pick up your grades or take the course over. These porgrams are so competitive and much harder to get into than "regular" BSN programs.

Let me tell you a bit about myself because we are both from NY seeking entry into an "accelerated nursing program".

I graduated with a B.S. in Community Health education in 07. Like you, I had a hard time finding something in my field. I have always wanted to work in the medical field, and while I was in college completing courses for my major, I simultaneously took prerequisite courses for an accelerated nursing program.

Last winter I applied to SUNY Downstate's accelerated program having a 3.8 over all GPA and 3.6 in my prereq's. I did not get in. The program is VERY competitive. As you can see, i have a pretty good GPA but that was not enough aparently. I was devistated. The school claimed that they never received my Chemistry grade. :banghead:

Here I am again, applying to SEVERAL schools this time around. I am hoping for the best. If not, I will pursue a Physician's Assistant Master's degree. All I need to do is take Organic Chemistry. If I don't get into Pace's accelerated nursing program starting in January (I am waiting for the decision), I will be applying to several P.A. programs for Summer/Fall entry. Maybe you might want to do the same since you already have a B.S. degree.

As a side note, If you plan on taking A&P II at Hunter College... DON'T. The professor is the worst. I took the class there on e-permit. He is the reason my pre-req GPA is not a 4.0. I wish someone would have warned me. He is the only professor teaching the class. If you don't believe me, just ask around or check ratemyprofessor.com. I won't post his name on the site, but if you want to know, you can leave your e-mail address and I will contact you.

Good Luck.
