  1. Meghan, I understand what you are saying, but my chances of receiving this scholarship/grant was high. There are 40 new students entering the program, of which 10 will be receiving this scholarship. This is not a random scholarship application in which I am competing amongst thosands of other applicants. If that were the case, I would not be so upset about the matter. I think we can all agree that "you have to be in it to win it", and since my application was "over-looked" by no fault of mine, my chances of receiving this money are low. Mistakes happen, yes, but something should be done about it. Someone's error has cost me! If I have to, I will be taking out a loan, but this is NOT the point here. Thank you for your input.
  2. I just called the office... the Supervisor is convieniently in a meeting. I was told that my application will be forwarded, but I am a bit discouraged because I don't even know that my application will be at least reviewed. Yesterday, she said that they were no longer taking applications, when mine should have been in more than a month ago.
  3. I was going to consider this route, but would it be a conflict of interest to attend the school and pursue this matter? Before any action is taken, I will be speaking to the supervisor. I will do so tomorrow, as she was not in today. Depending on what she tells me, I will decide from there. P.S. I even feel as though the school should pay/excuse my tuition for the year because of this error on their part. Is this too much to ask?
  4. No I have not left a job to attend this program. Unfortunately, this is the only program I applied for. Had I received a rejection letter, I would have applied to the other 2 "back-ups". I am also wondering about the organization of this program now. I will be counting down the days. Thank you for your advice and concern.
  5. Thank you IvyIV, I will be doing that tomorrow. This lady placed me at a disadvantage and wasn't even apologetic about it. The screwed up part is that there are 10 recipients for this award and with a 3.8 GPA in my undergrad B.S. degree, I could have been one of the 10!!! I am mad and so very sad.
  6. Hello everyone, My school has ROYALLY screwed me over. In October, I got accepted for a 1 year ABSN starting in January. At that time, I inquired about a scholarship that would cover 100% of my tuition for my year in the program. I applied for it by e-mail like I was directed to. Well...It just sat in the staff member's e-mail box... never to be opened until I inquired about my application. SHE EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT I DIDN"T APPLY FOR IT!!! Now I am hearing that the funds may no longer be available. The lady who was suppose to forward my application to HHC had a very nonchalant attitude over the phone. IT WAS A 45,000 SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!! Am I just suppose to accept this? It is all her fault that my application was never reviewed by HHC I am so :angryfire! What should I do? Advice please.
  7. Hello "Patients"isavirtue, was your question directed to me?

  10. Ok, so the debate is about being "found out". Why risk being found out? Jus include the information. There is a reason that this is part of the school's policy. They want to see what the person's track record is. It is like someone who cheats on a test and justifies their actions by saying, it is ok to cheat because I didn't get caught. Well, it is not ok to cheat, and it is unfair to the students who studied and worked hard for their grade. I AGREE that students should have a way to "renew" themselves. I believe that is why schools allow us to take classes over (Some schools, because mine did not). For the schools that doesn't allow students to take classes over, should implement a policy that allows them to. Students are also allowed to plea their case when they apply for programs. They are allowed to state in their essay/statement why their grades were not up to par. Some may even supply a supplemental essay discussing the reason for their short comings. I didn't have a problem being accepted into my graduate school. In my essay, I stated why my grades from my first semester of college did not mirror the last three years. I was going through familial problems. I got my act together. I presented my case and got in. And believe me, the program was competitive. I am one of 40 in the BSN/MSN program. I believe that people can get their act together. I ended up graduating summa cum laude in my undergrad. But it would have been unfair for me not to list my prior education because i didn't do well the first time. This is how the committee "weeds out" their applicants. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this matter. Good luck to all.
  11. Hello, I just happened to stumble upon this thread, found the comments interesting and decided to post one myself. When applying to most, if not all colleges, the application requires you to list ALL colleges and Universities attended. It doesn't matter if the transcripts will be forwarded or not. Here is the statement from my application: "All information in the application must be complete and accurate. Any MISREPRESENTATION or OMISSION of facts from the application will justify a denial or revocation admissions or subsequent dismissal from the graduate program" In my opinion, if you willfully omit infotmation, it is being dishonest. It is like saying the criminal did not commit the crime if his record is expunged because there is no way of proving it. To me, it still happened, he/she still did it. Just my . Take care everyone.
  12. Congrats to all those newly accepted.
  13. Hello TexasTee :), when you graduate all depends on how long your program is. For example, the BSN portion of my program will begin and end in the same year, 2009. However graduation takes place in Jan. 2010. Many schools graduates students 3 times per year; Jan, June and September. However, they often hold only one BIG ceremony which is usually in May or June depending on the school. Good luck Texas, and all of us embarking on our journey next year... better yet, in 2 months:bugeyes:!!! EDIT: Sorry Texas... I didn't know "Nurse2Be 2010" had already answered your question.
  14. JomaJoma, I am still praying :bowingpurfor you. To JomaJoma, Lola89 and Santa419, I hope you ALL get in. Good luck guys. Hang in there :hngon:. Keep us posted.
