Stethoscopes

Good Evening Folks, and Happy New Year (almost)

I have a question about stethoscopes. I have been told that my best bet is Littman Classic; any idea where I can pick one up at a fairly decent price in SW Michigan?

Anyone else suggest a different brand?

I just ordered a Littman Classic II S.E on line in purple : ). Is this a good enough quality scope for a nursing student ? I need all the advantages I can, but I don't want to just throw money out the window for the sake of buying" the most expensive" one either. I hope I did the right thing. : )

Nursing students/nurses be advised that stethoscopes sometimes disappear. I used a cheap stethoscope while in school. After I graduated I bought an expensive littman steth. I hated to let anyone borrow it for fear that I wouldn't get it back. I chased more than 1 doctor down the hall to retrieve it. I loved my stethoscope! So did the mouse that chewed through part of the tubing. I decided it just wasn't worth the hassle, so I bought a cheaper one and haven't had half the stress over it.

That's the exact same one I have! :)

I guess we all really like purple!

The woman at the store told me that that is the one they use at U of M Flint. So I figured if it was good enough for them...it's good enough for me too. Plus she advised against getting a super expensive one b/c people steal them all the time and she said that last thing I wanted to worry about was someone stealing my stethoscope.

I did try it out though before I bought one.

I had my name printed/carved on mine. So at least if they do try to take my scope they will look stupid using one with someone else name on it.

How much extra was the engraving? Where did you get it from? What was your total? Just weighing my options. Thanks in advance.

on allheart, it was 14.95 and if it saves it from someone trying to take it then it is worth it.

Does it matter which littman? Lightweight is less exsmemberve than classic.
