stethoscope reccomendations?

Published

I will be starting NS in January and was wondering if any of ya'll had any stethoscope reccomendations....i can't afford a Littman...so any other ideas for me...also how about shoes, I have plantar fascitis and really high arches with turned in weak ankles....any reccomendations for shoes that will help me be able to walk by the time I get home? Any info would be great...thanks:nuke:

I started NS this Fall. After reading several reviews, I went with a CD-27 by GRX Medical. My professors love it - they are constantly borrowing it and have compared it to their Littman Master Cardiology scopes. I found a thread on this website where this scope was reviewed. The website is GRCmedical.com; however, I would recommend getting it off of ebay. They are listed for under $20 with a free penlight. I can hear through this scope very well. It is a heavy duty quality - my professors have warned me to keep it close during clinicals because doctors will "borrow" it and not return it.

Raygun - Might want to try posting your question re: shoes in the Nursing Shoes Forum if you haven't already. :)

Shoes...go to shoes page, but for the scope...try looking at the other posts, but if you are looking for good quality in a decent price range, look at Prestige stethoscopes. The Prestige Clinical I, Adscope 603, or Littmann Select are all good stethoscopes with a lower end price tag. Try looking on eBay for better discounts though. Good luck with school and with your searching!

littman master stethoscope around 140 buck. This is the best.

You've a bunch of pt that you could not hear anything and this one pick low frequency sound so it's awesome!

I also have the GRX medical cd27 and I love it. I hear great with it. I have fellow students that have the same one and love it and anyone that has tried it loves it. Even my kids pediatrician tried it out for me and she loved it...said she heard better with it than her nurses steths...

I have a Litman, and is toted the best...but I still am terrible at hearing through them at times.

I will definitely check out the ones you recommended!

litman ditto that

About the shoes - I also have plantar fasciitis and high arches, and I absolutely love my Danskos. I can stand on my feet for 12 1/2 hours without being in agony. They aren't cheap, but they will easily last through nursing school and beyond, and they are worth every penny.

I have a littman cardio iii, love it! If I never received a littman, I would've went after a Riester.

I have a Littman Select, which has been a good scope to start off with. I don't really like the tunable diaphragm though, so I just ordered a GRx Medical CD27 since it's gotten good reviews here.
