Sat for 20 mins a few nights ago comparing a Littman Cardiology III to a Adscope ADC 603 Adult, both of which I had bought in nursing school. Although the Littman drowns out environmental noise slightly better, I thought that the much cheaper (by 1/2) Adscope has the same depth of listening quality. (Do all Littmans make you feel like your ears have been boxed? Uncomfortable no matter how much I've tried to ease the arm tension.) Sold the Littman to a fellow nurse on my unit and keeping the Adscope which I've used since graduating as it is more comfortable to the ears, lighter, coils up in my scrubs pocket. (The Littman was drawing dust in its box.) Perhaps to some extent it is like the story of Paganini playing a violin with one string and succeeding because he was Paganini.

I have a Littman Classic II S.E. and I love it, I can hear so well with it! I paid $73.95 for it from http://www.reddingmedical.com - otherwise if I bought it at a medical supply store I would have had to pay $90+. Ultrascopes are very nice but Littmans are more afforadable (if you buy the Classic II S.E. or something below, but I wouldn't go below the Classic II S.E.). My friend uses one by Prestige Medical and she likes it, so there is another option.

I have a littman cardiology III and I hate it. It's heavy and bulky and I often have trouble hearing through it. If you go onto allheart.com they have quality ones for cheaper prices. Good luck in nursing school.
