Stethoscope Help

but really- what is the deal with the dual head thing? if i buy a litmann...any litmann..can i use it for peds too?

yep you can use a single head; bell/diaphragm type for peds too it picks up both frequency's.(unless it specifies only diaphragm) my education is limited but dual tubing, i was told, can sometimes cause vibrations so it was recommended to me to stick w/single tube or go with a high-end stethoscope when choosing one w/duel tube. it takes some practice and getting used to whichever one you choose to go with. during school it will get a lot of use and abuse so i personally don't recommend going real expensive.

I have an adscope ultraweight.... I can hear from it really well. My first stethoscope was a sprague that I got for $15, it was ok... but I can hear from my adscope 100% of the time.

Our school recommended the Littman II SE, which is what I bought. I haven't received it yet, but they said it would work fine for everything we will need throughout our schooling - it is not the cheapest, but it is also far from the most expensive - it cost me $67.00 through the Student Nurse's Association from my school. Best of luck! :)

I ordered one through my school for the same price.(Princess74 and I will be attending the same school except she's LPN and I am RN) I tried the other ones and they either hurt my ears or I couldn't hear a thing. A lady that already goes to the school said that most of the students have them since the cost is in the middle.

Princess74- when u go to registration day they will have all the stuff you need and you can practice with them. The prices doesn't seem outrages.

I got it for $61.00 at allheart.com I had registration day today also. I'm gonna go to the hospital tomorrow for my badge and my drug test.

Me and Nursecadet was there today but ours started at 9am. Well yours was cheaper, mine cost 67.00, also we won't get it until the end of july or early august. I wish we could meet you since we talk up here all the time. Are you getting all your stuff from the internet or from the sentara?

what hospital r u getting your drug test from, i'm getting mine at VA Beach General since I have to volunteer there tomorrow. I won't get my badge until I get my hair done ( i know that sounds kinda prissy). You should have been there when the instructors was joking me when I was trying on my smock... they was like look at her trying to be sexy in nursing school b/c i wanted something a little smaller plus i went to look in a mirror to how it fitted.

I'm not sure, I'll probably just order my stuff online. I think that I might get the tote bag that they had there today though. What color steth did you order? I got the Caribbean blue. Our uniforms are the same as yours except our smock is Burgundy. I forget to ask about shoes, I know that they need to be white. Did they tell you guys that we can wear clogs or do they have to be a full shoe? It would be nice for the three of us to get together sometime before school starts, I'm sure we will run into each other a lot in the halls once classes start.

Um, they didn't say what kind of shoes we should have, I found some cute stylish nursing shoes on some website but scared to get them b/c I don't know my shoe size(I mainly where shoes that comes in boy sizes like jordans and nike, if I where a 4 1/2 in those do that means i where a 6 1/2 in females?) My stethe is ceil blue(a lite blue color) Yeah we should meet up one day, have you ever me Lorisha? It was funny to meet her b/c I thought that she would look diff. even though we traded pictures. We are both mixed but is considered black and is short, I'm around 5ft. We could probably pass as cousins or something. Ok back to school, I plan on going to the uniform store, Genesis, and getting my clothes. I researched the books online and they all carry them for the same price I guess it's just up to who got the lowest shipping. I'm going to try EVMS to see how much they carry the books when I get my badge or when I have to take my son to CHKD since they are right beside each other.
