  1. i love my crocs! my feet no longer hurt after 13 hr shifts........ it's like you are walking on air.
  2. I am a senior in nursing school, and I work at a local hospital. Most of my shifts are 12 hrs... some days it goes by fast... others it is slower.... on those days however you are just glad not to be moving nonstop. Realistically, they are not even going to be just 12 hrs... prob 13.... reason why you must get all your stuff entered into the computer, give report to the oncoming nurse, do all last duties.... I work on an ortho-neuro floor and stay really busy most of the time. good luck
  3. I can't tell you because of HIPAA
  4. I don't think that is in the Nurses Code of Ethics
  5. We were taught in school to tell them to take a deep breath.
  6. I love my ultrascope!
  7. I am a senior nursing student, and we were told not to get clogs (w or w/o a strap). I wear a pair of all white Sketchers; they are comfortable.
  8. I am a senior nursing student, and I work on the ortho-neuro floor in a local hosp. I TOO TALK REAL SOUTHERN No one has ever had a problem with my accent.
  9. I am going into my 4th of 5 semesters.... I have run into a few professors who I felt were just setting us out to fail. They were very intimidating... until I went to talk to them and share my feelings. Maybe you should consider meeting with them and discussing ways you can improve your study habits. It isn't that they don't care.... I feel a lot of times, they just come off on the wrong foot. DON'T GIVE UP!!! IT WILL GET BETTER!
  10. I have an adscope ultraweight.... I can hear from it really well. My first stethoscope was a sprague that I got for $15, it was ok... but I can hear from my adscope 100% of the time.
  11. Wong and Whaley's is an excellent book... there is a spiral bound clinical workbook also that is very helpful.
  12. It is an excellent opportunity to get a good physical assessment done by cleaning patients.
  13. I had this happen to me about a month ago.... I just went out and bought the same color scrub top and pants from a uniform store.... I took my patches off of my old uniforms and sewed them on the new ones
  14. I worked as a PCA (patient care assistant) during my junior year. This year is my senior year so my job status will be changed to SNAP--- extern...student nurse apprenticeship program where I follow a preceptor. Working is definitely a good idea.... if you can schedule it around your studies. I am learning how to prioritize things better and improve my skills.
  15. With patho there is sooo much to know, so you have to be sure to give yourself adequate time to study. Don't try to memorize.... you have to really understand the processes. Take the time and really think about it step by step. I made note cards for everything!! Good luck!
