stethescope for nursing school

Published

I've done EXTENSIVE research on stethoscopes, and it seems as though the concensus is that Littmann is the best, lol. I'll be attending Ivy Tech South Bend in Jan. Does anybody know if the color matters, do professors care?

I got a pink Littman (part of the proceeds went to Susan G Koman) cost: about $85. A little better than the basic Littman stethoscope. Don't get the pink (or any light color for that matter) though, it stains really easy (ink) and doesn't come off. I don't think color matters, unless your school says so, but most don't care. When I did my OB rotation, we couldn't use ours, the babies had one on their crib and we just used that for their mommy too.

Good luck!

At my school color doesn't matter but you should check with your school just to be sure so you don't waste the money!!

As the previous poster said the lighter colors show marks on the Littmanns and similar so personally I'm happy with my black steth :)

I have a Littman Classic 2 SE. As do most of my classmates. I went with black cause i was afraid i would get sick of a bright color. But we could have any color we wanted.

I also ordered it off medisave.net and you get free engraving on the bell.

I e-mailed my program head before ordering just to make sure. I have a BRIGHT orange Littman Classic. I love it because i'm the only one w/ that loud annoying orange so everyone knows it's mine. Since I have a habit of leaving it lay in the lab (I have the bell engraved w/ my name btw lol) it works out great because everyone knows who to return it to. ;)

We had to get the Littman Classic II...sold right in the bookstore and the color didn't matter. Although the bookstore only had black, dark green, raspberry and seafoam green (the color I chose). Good luck starting next month! :)

thanks all! I'm so excited to get started.
