STCC anyone?

Hi, I was just wondering if there were any other students (or alumni or instructors) from Springfield Technical Community College on here.

My boyfriend lives in Enfield, and he's got family in Windsor. Definitely a different world from here in Springfield haha. I hope you win that iPod! It's an awesome gadget.

I am excited but I'm also pretty nervous. I have no idea what to expect. It will certainly be a relief to only have to take the nursing courses, as I've taken all the other courses. I hope I will be able to continue to work part time, too, I really need the money!

ha small world...

Yes me too, all my classes are done, just taking my last, Eng Comp II this summer online. I wish the schedule was posted!!

I need to work too. I saved all my vaca so I could get a full time pay with only working part time.

They had the schedule posted but they took it down a few days ago. The freshmen schedule is going to be lectures Thurs and Friday from 10-12, I would say for sure because our lecture is 8-10am. The first 3-4 weeks of school you will be M-F, I think we did 8-1 or 8-3, I can't remember! Then once you get a bunch of lectures and labs in, you will start your regular schedule of Th/F lecture day, a 2 hour lab and 9 hours of clinical (broken up into 2 days). They will give you a schedule..did they tell you when orientation is, in your welcome letter?

To add to what Tero stated, there is also a nursing trends course you will have to take in your first semester. I believe it was Thursdays 12:30-2:15 if I remember correctly. For labs...there are 3 offered on Wed, 1 on thursday, 1 on friday, and 1 is TBA I believe. Good luck!

To all of you current students.. what's the parking situation like? I'm looking at the map and seeing how convenient it would be to park in lot 1.. but on first come first serve is that next to impossible??

It's not next to impossible. You just need to submit an email to the parking staff once you've registered basically. They told us we should include that we are nursing students in the email when we first met for orientation. I have lot 2, depending on where I park, it's closer. LoL. For all other lots besides 1 and 2, there is a shuttle. So I guess it doesn't matter too much.

You request your lot..lot 1 is the best choice and I think most of the people who put in for it right away got 1 or 2...just don't forget to send the email asap!

I can't believe I forgot about trends! How time flies...we met 12:30-1:20 on Thurs but I heard they were changing the class...

Oh that's right 1:20. I knew it lasted about 45-50 minutes but somehow put 2. LoL. A couple days off clinical and my mind goes to mush. LoL.

I know really! It is going to be weird going back to clinical, nothing this week and the holiday next week...

LoL. I can't wait personally. After this week, just one more week to go and I'm off to Maternity! It's the direction I want to go into, so I'm very excited! But it'll just be weird having two whole days off.....

Nursing student, when I just read your last post I thought I read that you are literally off maternity. I was thinking, How did she just have a baby and be in nursing school?? I am tired. I had to reread a few times before I got it. That is the direction I would like to be in too, also either labor and delivery and I have a huge interest in infertility nursing!

The first 3-4 weeks is the 8 -1 or 8-3 schedule, so that means no labs or clinical for those weeks too? Is that trends class only a 7 week class, if I remember correctly. What did you hear that was changing too?

I wish we had the schedule now. Cant wait to attend the first info session. I have to call my dr's office tomorrow and set up my physical and inquire about my vaccines. I can not remember what I had done or didn't especially the Hep B one. I saw that the Hep B is 3 series, one at 0 months and 1 at 1 month and the last at 6 months. What happens if you dont have the third done before sept?

Why didnt you guys have clinicals for 2 weeks?

What are 1st semester clinicals like?
