I am graduating in May, and I am quite nervous about not finding a job. Before entering nursing school I was a stay at home Mom for 9 years. Prior to that I had minimal CNA experience (took care of a quadrapalegic in his home). I was also a Realtor and a dental assisstant for a brief time. I also did some overseas volunteer work in Africa and Haiti.
Is there adice out there for me regarding my resume with so little work history?

Even though you had minimal CNA experience, it still counts as something.
Also, I would briefly mention your volunteer experiences and prior employment, and illustrate qualities gained from them (which could be applied as a nurse).

You're not in bad shape -- lots of new grads have little or no work experience, and nothing at all in healthcare, and employers are used to that. The important thing to employers is that you have just finished nursing school and have gotten a license. I was afraid, when I saw the title of your thread, that you were going to say you have been out of nursing for nine years and are looking to return. That would be a much bigger problem ...

I am in the same shoes as you. I have experience mostly in customer service but have not had a job other than LPN for 3mths because I have been a stay at home mom for the past 11 years.
I am volunteering at the hospital that I will be doing my last semester of clinicals at. I am on the floor with pts. I am not sure if it will help but I figure that it puts my name and face out there with this hospital and that has to put me a bit ahead of the other grads.
Good luck!

I was a stay-at-home mom until I graduated from nursing school at 40. I had no medical experience whatsoever. I've been a working nurse now for 15 years.
It is possible! Best wishes!
