Hello!I'm 17 year old girl who's excited to start the school year this year because I got in to my high school's ROP Nursing program!! Since I've heard about the class in Sophmore year, I've been wanting to take it and now my time has finally come.
I know that everything will be taught in my class, but I just wanted to ask some nurses who have already went through the experiences of class, labs, clincals, patients, and etc.
I'm excited and scared at the same time!
What are some of the things I should know about a CNA program? Nursing Do's and DONT's? How to stay on top on other things (like family, keeping a clean house, school, and friends)? Inspiring quotes?
Please and thank you!
Nursing school: tell them what they want to hear (especially during clinical practice)
New job: kiss the right asses and suck up to whoever has influence
You're still in high school, so this is just a CNA program, correct? Honestly, while CNA work is extremely important (nurses would be lost without CNAs), the work is extremely basic. Aside from your clinical hours (which will probably just be during school hours anyway), it probably won't take up much of your time. It will give you a great start towards nursing school though, and it will give you a good feel of whether nursing is really what you want to do. Further, it will really make you appreciate your CNAs when you are a nurse. Good luck!
Show your enthusiasm at school as you have shown her, but don't gush.
Be nice but not overly nice.
Study and learn what you are supposed to learn.
Be courteous but not a pushover.
Don't gossip or make fun of anyone.
Silence can be golden.
Use basic good judgment.
Here's wishing you great success and lots of joy in your new endeavor.
